Which stepping should I be looking for on the Q9550? E0, C1? Which overclock the best? Thanks.
 
ebay would probably be a good bet on finding one cause they usually post pics of the actual processor
 
I went the ebay route myself, the seller listed the stepping, so I knew I was getting an E0, I didn't want to take any risk of not getting an E0.
 
All the fuss and risk everyone is gnashing their teeth over isn't really warranted when it comes to the Q9550. From what I've read, the stepping doesn't make as big a difference on the Q9550 as it did on the Q6600 when it comes to O/Cing. I've got a C1 stepping Q9550 and it's been humming along nicely at 3.825Ghz in my box without any issues. A E0 stepping isn't going to gaurantee a better overclock - it really just depends on the CPU you get.
