Had a quick go at clocking my q9550 (1.2 vid) to 3.4ghz earlier, stock volts of 1.200, ran a quick test on p95 small fft.

Do theese temps seem ok as its my first attempt with a 45nm cpu, cooling is a TRUE black and 2 x 1200 rpm fans in push/pull. Thanks for any advice/input.:)
 
Temps are just fine, TJMax is 100C, so you are well within the "safe" zone. But don't get to caught up on temps, so long as you are not thermal throttling you are fine.
 
Another note, start pushing that thing! My VID is 1.1875V but I have it set to 1.181V (undervolted) and am running a stable 3.8GHz (link here). I am betting with the right settings you should have no trouble hitting 3.8GHz on stock volts.
 
Ill definitely be taking it higher, just doing a bit of research on 45nm quad overclocking. I was previously using a q6600 which i took to 3.8ghz on air. Very nice clock on your own chip, particularly the voltage used.
 
Well, seeing your voltage, your temps seen pretty good, so if the mobo is up to it I think it should be able to hit 4GHz, just keep it under 1.4V and you should be golden.

One question, what fans are you using? Is your TRUE lapped? What kind of temps are you getting with a single fan? Ok...So that was three...I lied..
 
They seem fine, though noticeably higher on two of the cores, sometimes that just happens... I'd re-check the thermal paste is spread evenly and that the heatsink is making good contact just to be sure tho.
