I cannot seem to figure out how others with equal or lesser hardware are scoring 20k+ in 3DMARK06. I am trying to get my rig pushed but stable and seem to have found one spot here where I am at with this Quad Core at 3.4Ghz.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get this OC'd more? What more should I look at to tweak?
Thanks for any help or advice you can give..........

Here is where I am at:

Yes I need to change my sig........but not till I get this thing where I want it

only 17K at default setting? If so it looks like SLI is not enabled. You can get 14K with a Quad and just one G92 based card, ie GTS or GT. You should be above 20K, I would think snice you have 4 gpus.

yeah seems to be pretty low since i get around 21 000 with one radeon 3870x2 and Quad @ 4.4Ghz, 3dmark 06 is pretty damn cpu based :p

3dMark scares VERY poorly with sli/quad sli gpu's.....

overclock your cpu to 4.0ghz and overclock your gpu's a bit and you should hit 20k.

lmao- oops a typo there - obviously I mean Vista 32-bit OS.

Ok, well I cant seem to get stable past 3.4Ghz with this proc. Everytime I tweak anything up a tad any direction up, I get BSOD on various stress tests (Prime, 3DMARK, etc).

I cant seem to get into the video cards to set fan or tweak their settings either. Seems the 780i is kind limited to nVidia Control Panel and it is limited to what you can do.Yes, SLI is enabled, it shows "Quad SLI" is active so I dont understand. I think it is kind of low as well.

You are going to have to get to at least 3.8 GHz. I got a little over 19K with a Q6600 at 3.8GHz with two 8800 GTX's in SLI and 2 Gb memory. Up the voltage!

There are cases of people killing their E8400's with 1.34 volts or higher. What about the Q9450's? This guy is already over Intel's maximum voltage.

You should have picked up higher rated ram if you plan on overclocking heavily.

Voltage seems way too high for 3.4ghz. You should be able to pump the clock with that much voltage.

I am doing 3.65 stock voltage on my q9450 24/7 right now. only diff is I am doing it on a X38 DDR3 board. 455 fsb and 1517 on my ram at 7-7-7-20. solid as a rock and I get temps in the mid 40's idle with a crappy artic freezer 7 on it. got a TRU 120 on the way to get that down some more as well. once i read and watch others find the q9450's voltage limit I willthink of going to higher voltages but this is good for me for I only have a 8800gts 320 card and the bottleneck is there anyway for now. waiting on the real next gen nvidia or ati.

BTW your rams timings look really tight to get to that high of a clock try 5-5-5-15

Yeah I dropped volts and loosened timing now- that is acting a bit more stable. Running the 5-5-5-15 @ 2T

7-7-7-20? Shouldn't you have it at 7-7-7-21, or did I miss that class? (j/k) I thought the last one should be what the first 3 equals.

I could send you the pic of the tag off my ram that shows that those are the RATED timings. 7-7-7-20

gonna try 21 and see. Ram not holding me back anyway i think still below rated 1600mhz

I think these chips are good for 3.4-3.8ghz depending on the chip. you oc'ed almost 1000mhz, and should be happy, lol. But yea, you have a video issue. I have 2 GTX's and score over 18,000, so its like your quad sli, is only using 2 GPU's.

Also, look into GTLVREF voltages on your board, youll be happy you did, it may help you get to the 3.6ghz barrier.

That is weird, with two 8800GTS overclocked (easy/stable) I get 20.5k, see sig. That's only two cards. Must be a problem with your SLI.... (??)

Also I do not think your chip is maxed at 3.4... I can get into Windows at 3.8 and run apps, just not prime or 3Dmark stable there, and even then I think it's my settings vs. cpu limited.

It looks like the 3.4oc is still holding back those 9800gx2s. You'll have to target atleast 3.8ghz to open up those cards which is hard for a 9450 to do (unless you have a golden chip). Also 3d06 on vista just kills your score.

WOW! You got 20.5k!? With my setup (Also have two 8800GTS cards) I'm lucky to hit 15k! Then again... my CPU is only OCd to 3.0GHz right now. Think going to 3.6 will have a noticeable change? I'm planning on hitting 3.6GHz as soon as I get the heat pipes off my mobo and replace the thermal paste with my own MX-2. Until then, I'm just sitting at 3.0.

Yes, but it's not just the cpu speed.

790i gains ~10% over 780i in SLI
DDR3 vs. DDR2
Yorkfield CPU vs. Kentsfield CPU

All together is the difference.
