Not sure if this should really be here or anywhere but I figured this would be the place to get an answer. I was just wondering if it was possible to use a water pump to pump air. I basically just need to pump air from 1 tube to another for a small project but the only pumps I can find marketed as air pumps have 1 "port" for a tube/hose to go as output whereas water pumps for water cooling have 2 tube/hose "ports" since they are designed to recycle the liquid.
I (obviously?) don't know anything about pumps so go easy on me hehe.

Water pumps are generally designed to be lubricated by the liquid being pumped. Running a water pump dry generally has adverse effects. Also, air pumps are much more efficient for air, and water pumps more efficient for water. Keep up your search for air pumps, they exist in almost all connection types.
 
no...waterpumps dont pump air , the design of a waterpump is completly different from that of an airpump . If you let a waterpump run dry it will overheat and break.
Airpumps have one outlet as far as i know , because they take air thru an air intake from outside and press it into one outlet to pump air into whatever ... you could try and modify an airpump by finding some way to connect the air intake to one of your tubes or keep searching ...;)

You could build a casing to 'submerge' the air pump in, and connect the inlet hose to it. Or you could get a high-flow PC fan and seal a duct to either side, and use that.
