PSU Upgrade

If you get a dual rail PSU, it splits up the load.

So if a calc says you have a potential 18A load and you're looking at a dual 12V rail PSU with 14A per rail, you'll probably be fine since 14A will go to the 24-pin connector and PCI-e connector and the other will go to the 12V 2x2 connector and the drives (or from what I've learned... any number of any possible combination depending on what the manufacturer feels like doing.)

So if you're asking if a dual 12V rail PSU will suit you if the combined capability exceeds your potential load.. the answer is yes.

But don't take my word for it. I'm biased and have a large penis.

LOL "this is the greatest day of my li-i-i-ifee!" (some song idk)
thanks man!

I have a 600Watt P/S X-Connect that I bought at CompUSA for about $130($30 rebate) Even though it's stamped/rated at 570Watts, it's a good unit ie It does what I ned it to do.

Remember the old addage: "weight = quality" when getting your new P/S.

Also, take stock of how much wattage each piece of hardware uses, video cards, drives, sound, etc, and use this as a guide to buying your new unit.

Good Luck!

No you don't.

There is no 600W X-Connect. There's a 500W X-Connect and there's a 600W X-Finity.

1. Seasonic S12
2. Antec NeoPower
3. Fortron Bluestorm

I'm looking at the Ultra Brand series especially the UV window ones but I havent seen any dual rail version, and I'm not sure if there really any good.

Well, what do you want? Bling-bling, or proven good performance? I myself like the Seasonic S12, but the Antec Neopower is the one you should be looking at if you want modular cabling. Look at the OCZ Modstream if you want modular cabling and bling-bling.

I hope the Seasonic S12 fills ALL my needs for the future hardware because I'll have ordered it by 9:00est today!

Pick 1,2, or 3.

Just read that the Seasonic S12 430 doesnt have PCI-E support..good thing my mom didnt want me to buy it last night. Might have to go with the Bluestorm then :(

Most PCI-E casrd come with molex to PCI-E converters. Not ideal but they work.

Ok thats cool. But what would you guys pick the BlueStorm or the S12? Is it a draw, cause I really want some bling?

Maybe not direct support, but as Spectre pointed out, you can get Molex -> PCI-E adapters. Depends on if you want to have some more wiring hanging around in your case or not.
