PSU Selection

(I bet you guys are getting sick of these)

So since to this day I still don't know what goes into PSU selection, I'm in need of some assistance. Newegg's PSU calc says about 500W - 520W, but if memory serves, psu calcs aren't to be taken too seriously. Here's my setup:

MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz
GPU: Undecided. I was thinking a Geforce 9600GT simply because I'm not necessarily looking for the best and they're a bit less expensive than the 8800's.
Memory: Corsair XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) kit DDR2 800 (correct me if I'm wrong, but I hear i won't even notice much a difference between 800 and 1066. i may upgrade to 4GB somewhere down the line)
Case: Antec 900

This is just an upgrade of my current desktop and I'm on low-medium budge so that's why some parts are left out. Feel free to critique my decisions.

On a side note, my current HDDs are SATA 150. If I get a SATA 300 board, will I need the 150 or 300 cables? Also, for the Antec 900, are the fans it comes with adequate or will I need separate fans? One last thing. My current HSF is a Zalman CNPS7000B-CU. Will I need a new HSF or can I just grab a ZALMAN ZM-CS1 clip and be on my merry way.

Drop the E6750 if you haven't bought it yet. The E8400 is faster and cooler running than the E6750 yet it costs about the same:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 CPU - $190

You won't notice a difference between DDR2 800 or DDR2 1066. So don't buy DDR2 1066 RAM. Also, if you're getting 2GB of RAM only, don't pay more than $50 for a 2GB set. No real reason to spend more money on 2GB set of RAM considering that you rarely need to OC the RAM with C2D builds and that a 4GB set is only $78:

The fans are adequate on the Antec 900. However I recommend checking out the Coolermaster RC-690 case. IMO, it is of the same quality (construction and airflow wise) as the Antec 900. And it's usually $20 cheaper than the Antec 900.

That Zalman CNPS700P-Cu will be sufficient

And no you don't need 150 or 300 cables. They are all the same exact cables.

As for power suppply, I recommend this:
Corsair 450VX 450W PSU - $75

Should be more than enough for your system.

I agree with your CPU change (althought it's actually $200). Normally I'd keep my case selection since the Antec 900 looks so much cooler than the RC-690, but since I increased the price of my CPU, I'm going to drop some money elsewhere (that case is a $40 drop, nice!). The RAM I had already picked out was under $50, but I'm still not sure just how much RAM I want yet. I'll think about that one. I chose the Corsair 450VX.
