So here's the equipment I'm running:
C2D e6750 @ 3.2Ghz. 8GB RAM, single 9600GT at the moment.
I've got a modular Raidmax with 48V on two 12V rails. This guy here. Now, I know it's no high-end PSU, but customer reviews have been pretty good, and I'm only using a tiny amount of its rated watts.
I've got an EVGA 780i, which somehow won't let me OC above 1600FSB.
And for the case, I've got a Gigabyte 3D Mercury that has been fitted for external radiators and such.
So, the issue right now is:
My PC often gets stuck at FF when powering up. To get it to boot, I have to actually jiggle random pieces of equipment in my computer (makes it appear as a mobo grounding issue). However, I also discovered that moving/installing my case door affects ability to boot (case issue with grounding?). Furthermore, I found that unplugging/plugging in my headphones into my Asus Xonar D2X would cause the computer to shut down. Also, the sound coming from the card is VERY weak now. Less than 15 min ago, it seemed as if my PC was fine. This makes me think that there's a grounding issue somewhere, but I triple-checked all my screws.
Any ideas on what's going on?
BTW, here's what I have connected to one power cable: SATA DVD drive, SATA HD Rack, D2X, 2* SATA HDs, three low-rpm 120mm fans, and a Swiftech pump. Now, these are somewhat daisy-chained onto one physical cable to make cable routing easier, but would it affect power issues? This setup was working perfectly less than half an hour ago. What could be going on? I'm afraid of unplugging my headphones right now, as I'm afraid my PC will restart, so I can't comment if I think I blew out my HD555s.
