Hey everybody,

For Christmas I am looking forward to getting the 8800GT when the price drops below $200 and am wondering if I will need a new PSU.
My current setup is an HP m7664x media center:
specs: 2 gig of ram
AMD 4200+ x2

I don't know how much power my PSU holds but with my current specs can you tell.

If I do have to buy a new PSU what would you recommend for around $50 or under?

its a 300w unit with about 18A on the +12 and no pci-e connector, it is not going to work.

You need

Due to the lower power 65nm GPU this video card only requires one auxiliary power connector that is located at the rear of the card. NVIDIA recommends a minimum 400 W power supply with 26 amps for a single GPU configuration

(I assume the meaning is 26A of +12 power from the supply ( 312 Watts) )

I dont like any of the $50 or less power supplies listed on newegg, If you held a gun to my head (and you would have to) and said "buy one or else". I guess this one is ok.

but if someone who knows what they are talking about can recommend a different/better one and can link to a review where they use a proper load tester and the supply does not blow up, go for it. Anything reviewed by [H] or jonnyguru and gets an "its ok" or "a fair value for the money", you are not going to find any "its great" reviews of a sub $50 power supply, if so, run away, fast.

Thanks tht helped out alot.

Maybe I need to raise my price range. Ok, what PSU would work with the 8800GT and my other specs that is $60 or under?
