Hello i had this LCpower Arkangel 850w for about 4 years now i was tasking my sistem apart and gave it a compressor clean to remove the dust and i was testing my fans and noticed the psu fan isnt working. I thought it was the cold and gave it a litlke warm up with the hair dryer but made no diference.

Dead Fan sensor or something?

Any ideas on what to do ?

you can replace the fan. It will void the warranty, but I'm sure at 4 years, it probably already is.

Open it up, get a fan the right size and splice it in. It's very simple to do.

Hey, I don't know " LCpower Arkangel" but at 4 years give the electrolytic capacitors a good inspection while you have it open...any bulging or leaking?

also if 12v makes the fan too loud you can play tricks by putting the fan negative wire on the 3.3v or 5v rail

Not saying your psu does this but mine said in the manual that the fan will only spin up as needed. The fan spins up and stops often.

yeah, but he said he heated it up with a hair dryer

yup its defenitly the temp sensor that died ive heated it till its almost on fire and it doesnt spin up.

Anyway iam using it at with the fan directly on 12v line OMG so loud ive almost chosen new psu its either a:

XFX 750W Black Edition ( Cheaper )

or

Corsair AX 650

Iam still undecided

hello

as I said above, put the fan black wire on the red or orange PSU rail

At work when this has happened I just connected the power to the fan outside the power supply using a molex or 3pin. I know that is not clean but it will work without any soldering..

Given LCpower's past record of using mostly Huntkey units as OEM, I would replace the whole unit. Huntkey isn't bottom of the barrel, but they are not units I would run without a fan for any length of time either and still trust.
