Is there a way to test my PSU consumption? If so, how? Is there software? Do I need a testing kit?

What do you mean by "test" your power consumption? Did you mean "measure" your power consumption?

You can use a cheap power meter like a Kill-A-Watt to get ballpark measurements. Keep in mind that these devices are not very accurate, but they're good enough to get a general idea.

This or dump thousands of dollars on testing equipment.

i consume about 1 psu per year/year and 1/2. not that they dont last more than year and 1/2, they just get demoted.
