PSU Cable Extensions safe?

Just redid my main system and the cable mess was an absolute disaster.

Thankfully the new case I bought does a good job helping with cable management but the PSU cables are so stiff and difficult to bend. sorry I bought some cable extensions which are much more flexible and look cool but mainly they're easier to move and bend than the stock PSU cables.

Are they safe and okay to use?

These cable extensions just helped me clean the system wire mess, I just want to know if this is safe and ok to use?

Should be safe as long as they aren't stupid long and you don't have a bunch of splitters, etc..

If you have stability issues and your PSU is just enough for your system, it may be because the PSU is struggling to supply the power over that distance. But if you have more than 20% margin, then that extra length is probably fine.
 
they look decent and a higher gauge, so should be fine. post a link to what you bought.

So far so good, plugged everything in, powered it, and booted up perfectly like normal, and seems like everything's running just normal.

I absolutely LOVE the look in the case now, very clean and no mess, but i want it to be safe #1

pendragon1, thank you for the quick replies, I really appreciate it, I was worried it could be dangerous using thse extension cables, but I guess not. Thanks man
 
If I was paranoid, I would check for shorts between the wires, and ensure pin 1 goes to pin 1, 2 to 2, etc.. And I am, so I would. But the cable end would have to be pretty mangled for a short to occur (just simply due to the design of the minifit jr connector, plus sleeving and heatshrink if present), so 99% of cables should be good (or obviously bad).
 
Now I just need a good white cpu cooler then it's all done

I just started using these on my builds and every time I plug them in, I always feel like I'm daisy chaining extension cords...shudders, then close the panel =(

No not daisy chaining extension cords that is a crime against humanity (at least according to the manufactures directions which I'm sure everyone follows) This is perfectly fine as long as you don't plug a microwave oven, toaster oven, coffee maker into an old 18AWG cord! A small lamp or fan is fine.
PS: What is with the new trend of all black wires on modern power supplies and PC fans? Makes finding the pin-out much harder as Red=5VDC Yellow=12VDC Orange=3.3VDC and so on but the new all black trend makes tracing wires more difficult then it has to be!
 
I don't think twice about daisy chaining extension cords as long as I'm only plugging in something that is low power.
 
Get some cable combs bro tha'd help really put icing on the cake for those extensions.

Same here like a lamp or anything way below the cords rating also an 18AWG cord is good to around 7A or 840W @ 120VAC an 16AWG cord is good for 13A or 1560W @ 120VAC of couse 18AWG cords were deemed on safe due to idiots plugging in a space heater or the like space heaters are now limited to 1500W or 12.5A @ 120VAC however most use 16AWG cord but it is a special high heat cord called "Heater, Parallel, Neoprene" or just HPN for short. I only need a space heater for a year when I lived in an old house with only one heat vent in the giant room with a 10' ceiling I used a 12AWG cord and plugged that into the only 20A grounded circuit (yes 1 20A and 1 grounded circuit) in the whole house.

I used the short cable set for the P/S and sleeved extensions in the past. The total length was about the same and I never had a problem. Today, not even cablemod makes a short set of sleeved cables. You don't need to get at the P/S or pull cables out of your mobo/gpu. Just disconnect at the extension to pull a gpu or the mobo.
