PSU and MB Replacement Help

My room mate has a prebuilt that kicked the bucket. After some research I found the issue was the PSU was defective and Zapped the Mobo. I;m wondering what I should use as a replacement. Can I stick any ATX PSU in the Case and any 775 motherboard, or do I need a certain form factor. I'm trying to keep this fix under $100. The motherboard needs onboard video as she doesn't have a video card. Though if there is a very cheap card that I can keep the budget under $100 I can get her that would be better than any onboard stuff, I'll take it. She has a 1280x1024 monitor and she's also about to purchase a 1680x1050 monitor. She mostly browses youtube.

Formfactor is a mini tower, I was thinking a MicroATX Motherboard. But I'm unsure as I cant find much on this computer.

I found this 575w PSU, but I'm unsure id this is garbage or not.

The case you linked to is designed to handle micro ATX motherboards. The motherboard you linked to has an AMD AM2+ socket, not an Intel LGA775 socket. I don't trust any PSU that comes from a mass-product OEM like Gateway. And there's no way to pair a quality PSU (why repeat the same mistake?) with just about any LGA775 mATX motherboard (with onboard video) and keep the total under $100.

Can you spend more money? It seems better (if not easier) to update your system and go with something along the lines of:

$49 - Intel Celeron G540 (Sandy Bridge LGA1155)
$48 - MSI H61M-P31/W8
$32 - Kingston HyperX 4GB DDR3 1333 DIMM
$50 - Corsair CX500
=====
$179 - Subtotal (not including shipping, taxes, or rebates)

While the above setup exceeds nearly twice your budget, you have a much better platform to work from.

Neither will work. The Biostar is ridiculously overpriced. You shouldn't spend more than $50 on a dead platform. In addition, that Abit was not that good of a mobo even back in 2007 let alone 2013.

Not to mention that neither motherboards specifically support the Pentium E2200.

EDIT: Also make sure that Gateway actually uses the standard front-panel connectors for the power and reset buttons at the very least. Some of the older Gateways had proprietary front panel connectors.

Grab the following motherboard now: MSI G31TM-P21

Yes, it's an eBay auction for a used motherboard, but you're not going to find a better deal for less.

Buy the Corsair CX500 (from Amazon) instead of the Gateway 575W power supply you were considering earlier. The CX500 is a much better power supply.
