Well if the scalpers get them first they will jack up the prices on ebay. So if you can get it for Retail Price I think it's a good deal.If you already own one not much excitement to be had. I bought a Switch two weeks and use it more than my PS5.I'm going to Gamestop today to see what they have in stock for games so I can save the Mailman some trouble. There are Graphic improvements with the PS5 PRO even with older games like Demon Souls which they had at launch more shadows and details.

When I got my ps4 pro when it released i walked into best buy and bought it and came home. I don't imagine the 5pro being that much different.

The regular ones are going for 1,250.00 each so what you will. The thing is it doesn't come with a Disk Drive either maybe to make theunit more stable if the Disk Drive ever fails. You can buy a Disk Drive separately not sure if the current ones will work with it.

I don't see the PS5 Pro being much of a target for reselling, it's priced high to begin with and doesn't seem there is going to be a stock shortage.
 
Up everywhere; Best Buy, Amazon, etc. I don't think it will be popular at all. Everyone keeps joking you can barely see any type of difference. To make matters worse it doesn't even have a drive, that's another $80 and will probably be in short supply.

I placed a pre-order but I assume after I think it over and see how little I get for my current PS5, I will most likely cancel it.

Typo correction: it doesn't come with the disc/optical drive.


Regarding selling a PS5, look for Gamestop trade-in promos. I got $340 for my disc PS5 in Spring 2024. They sent me the money over Venmo, instantly.

And just like a month ago, disc PS5's were $400+ trade-in, due to the disc drive add-on accessory shortage.
 
Yeah, I don't think the PS5 Pro is going to have scalper issues. The Nintendo Switch 2, on the other hand ...

$302 to trade in a PS5 or a Xbox Serise x. I could trade both in and still have to pay out almost $200 out of pocket for a pro and a disc drive. I do have to say the Xbox was the biggest waste of $500 ever for me.

30 vs 60 fps can be a bit hard to show on video and modern day graphic do hit diminishing return, but it would have helped if the launch stream would have been high quality:

why do they make the side by side much smaller (to fit in vertical phone screen I presume...., combined with 1080p at launch that was not helping considering how little difference some title has) ?

Hogwarts and some title go beyond barely any type of difference level:

That do feel like an issue occured (expected game to launch around the pro ending up not ready before 2025 or something like that), Death stranding 2 an big non exclusive that make it worth it (it is not like Xbox is that relevant in some market) like GTA 6 having a pro version would have been even better I imagine.

After pre-ordering, I checked Gamestop. Currently giving $192 cash or $275 for trade in credit. I think I can get $300-350 private sale. Will help towards having to buy that add-on drive.

At the time I did the trade-in (which was during a trade-in bonus promo), it was about $360 for a "Pro" trade-in. And about $300 for a non-pro trade-in.

The store I went to gave me the "Pro" trade-in price, but subtracted the cost of a pro membership. So I got $335 or $340 cash. And I have a pro membership for a year.

I was hoping to sell my PS5 for $350 without the extra SSD I put in it. My local Facebook marketplace had numerous PS5's for sale. For me, getting ~$340 with no fuss, was a good option.
 
Digital Foundry might have sold me on one with their FF VII Rebirth ps5 pro video. Game looks a lot cleaner on ps5 pro.

Plus currently playing Persona 5 on PC and am really missing the console suspend/resume feature.
 
Great to hear that supplies will be sufficient so scalpers will have a bad time making money--middlemen suck no matter where they're at...

So hooked mine up this weekend, I have it paired with a AORUS FO48U OLED Gaming Monitor. It's nice to not have to pick Quality or High FPS in games. Was it worth the price? The more I use it the more I think, Yes. I do think it's pretty stupid they STILL don't have native Bluetooth headphone support.

How does everyone else who bought one feel?

Yup same. I ended up not touching it for a couple of years to only find out the latest hypervisor was cracked on 1.xx and 2.xx firmware. Powered on the console and it still has the 2.50 firmware on it lol. I do all my gaming on my PC. :p
 
Same here. PS5 was given as a Christmas gift, intended to be a glorified Blu-ray player and for family game nights. It’s still in the original box, unopened, even inside the Amazon shipping box.
