All of a sudden, only two exclusives I see are Knack and Killzone. Is it just me or is PS4 launch very underwhelming?

Guys, can you name the top launch titles you are buying for PS4 on launch day? Would help me to decide if I am spending money on 15th November or holding off like I did with the current gen consoles. Anything coming out on PC is irrelevant e.g., Ass Creed 4, BF4, Ghosts etc.

The only thing that was keeping me from selling my pre order was watch dogs. Now that that has gone by the wayside Im seriously contemplating selling mine on EBay. Not sure if Ill do it at launch or XMas though...

Gamestop is already selling Killzone for the PS4, oddly enough.

Probably trying to clear out inventory at full price before people figure out Target and Amazon are doing buy 2 get 1 free PS4 game deals.

Fixed that for you. Exclusive titles have gotten relatively scarce over the last 5 years, period, so exclusive launch titles are also getting harder to come by as well.

I imagine Battlefield 4 would be a consideration, if you're interested. I am pretty annoyed that some reviewers can't see much difference between PS3 and PS4 versions of games like Assassin's Creed 4, besides the PS4 version running the game at 1080p at 30 FPS. The reviewer could be blind, though, so keep that under consideration, lol.
 
Wow, it is a bit weird to have this underwhelming of a launch. Normally there are atleast 3-5 console exclusives worth talking about.

... you say that now, but wait until the launch window (April '14) closes up. The PS4 is going to have PLENTY of games. I'm waiting until then to buy one.

If you like the Need for Speed franchise, the next one (Rivals) got added to the launch line up.
 
Umm.."one of the console's most promising exclusives"? I'm cancelling my PS4 preorder if that's really the case. Ha. I mean, it looks fun for awhile, but that's a bit much.

Likewise, no military shooter will ever get me excited. This is my game.
Not for everyone(I guess), but I'm sold. This stream just got me more excited. The synesthesia is what I like the most.
 
Yea, I have to admit it does seem a bit underwhelming. Heck, the game I ordered my PS4 with was Call of Duty Ghosts (not even an exclusive title) and the reason? It's been tradition since COD 4 and I wanted to play it on a new console. I bought Modern Warfare on the PC and the 360 but I never really got into it on the PC which brought me to the conclusion that it's best enjoyed on a console. I think that's enough for me to try something new. It might flop and suck but I doubt it. There's guaranteed to be some great games and there's enough going on in gaming right now to keep me busy (Arma 3 & BF4 on the PC) and at least these two games for PS4 (COD: Ghosts, Gran Turismo 6). Some of the bonus free stuff I'm sure will be good for at least a few hours of entertainment.

I'm looking forward to the release regardless.
 
Very underwhelming. Pre-ordered one right after the conference, now I can't think of one exclusive I want to get. Will probably just end up selling it and get it some time next year once more titles are available.
 
Can anyone remember the last time a new console had a good launch lineup as this? N64 maybe and that's just because of Mario 64.

N64 also launched with Pilotwings 64, I think. That was the best game in that series...

The Gamecube had Luigi's Mansion and Rogue Leader as launch titles.

Wii had Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess and some other stuff.

Anyways, the point is, launches suck.
 
SNES probably had the best launch/launch window lineup that I can recall.
 
At the risk of sounding all "you kids get off my lawn", are you fucking kidding me? 16 full titles (+ a couple indie games), 4 of which I'd consider as A-list. Go back to Xbox 360 and PS3 releases and you had half the number of games, only 1-2 of them what I'd consider A-listers and no indies. Go back further to SNES and Genesis and you had maybe 5-6 games at release.

That's because you're looking back at the launches with what you know now about the old ones. You have 16 titles that SOUND like A-listers. How much will live up to their hype? That's why the Xbox 360 and PS3 launches feel so anemic, is because you KNOW they sucked NOW.

Can you link me to the 16 launch titles. I will make my decision to see if I believe they will be A list or not. Thus far, Ass Creed is A list and I have it on PC. Ghosts is B-list and I have it on PC. Nothing else is exciting except Killzone (if that comes out at launch). NFS Rivals is intriguing but I will have it on PC.

So I don't know what to make of this console release.

You can actually buy Killzone right now. They shipped the game out ahead of time and there's no street date.

You're never, ever going to get anything more than 2-3 9/10 games at launch for multiple reasons: no publisher wants to put out their gem in a saturated market (one of the reasons, I'm guessing, games like Drive Club need "extra development time"... yea, right) , the platforms and development skills are in their infancy, and devs will always take the safe route in game design with the first batch of games. The PS4 launch (and XBone's launch, for that matter) look much more solid by comparison to past launch line-ups. After having been there for every major console launch since Atari 2600 (missed Neo Geo, unfortunately), yes, it does look indeed to be the best console launch ever.

Condemned (a highly, highly underratted series) and Perfect Dark Zero (albeit this was just an Xbox game re-skinned for 360) were actually quality games, especially for launch titles. Even Kameo was a very fun platformer. I got all three of these games at the 360 launch along with COD2 and was pretty happy, actually. Was much better than the Genesis launch, in any case, if I remember, for which I got Altered Beast and Tommy Lasorda Baseball :D

Edit: also, "A-list" in the industry means --and the way I'm employing it -- is the most the most bankable (and is usually synonymous with high budget and wide appeal). I think you're understanding the term to mean quality, which it does often, but not always.

Lol you guys are fucked in the head. It's launching with 2 exclusives Killzone and Knack as well as BF4, COD Ghosts, Assassins Creed, NFS Rivals, Fifa 2014, NBA 2K14 and others. It's not like these consoles are replaced every year or 2. You buy it and use it for 5+ years so even if there's only a few games you want at launch over the consoles lifespan there will be many more.
 
I really wanted Watch Dogs at launch but they screwed that up. I pre-ordered 2 consoles so the verdicts still out on whether I actually keep either system. I might just sell both and re-build my rig with 290's when they get aftermarket coolers.

The Xbox One on the other hand has Dead Rising 3 and possibly Rise if it's a good game. Hardware isn't everything I suppose, Sony needs to get their hands on some more content.
 
Selecting a console over another one solely based on launching titles seems like short view thinking isn't it?:rolleyes:
 
I think I'm going to cancel. I just can't see buying this thing right now just to play Killzone and Knack. If I weren't a PC gamer primarily then this would be a completely different and more compelling story for a day one buy.

I've used the PS3 for games I can't get on the PC and the PS4 will be the same way. The Order next year is shaping up to be something potentially impressive and I'm also looking out for that next Infamous title.

Dead Rising is great though I don't think it was a commercial smash, hope more people get into it now that it is next gen.
 
The launch lineup is absolutely horrible. There is absolutely nothong here to convince me my pre order is worth keeping. Even multiplats ill be buying on one due to exclusive content such as legends mode in fifa

Really? Why is it fucked in the head to not buy a console at launch with a pathetic lineup? Seems a whole hell of alot smarter to wait for worth while titles which may not even happen till after a price drop

LOL , not going to fool me twice, Killzone for the PS2 was absolute garbage. First game I ever bought and returned on the same day. Wow...what a turd.
