PS3 vs 360 Games

7 years = good. I hoped they wouldn't drop it like it's hot as they did with the original Xbox once the 360 came out. I like the 360 but don't want it to just dry up. I've got all three consoles this round, but next round I'll probably only buy one. I'm getting ready to have my first kid, --- + work, and adult priorities are starting to take a bit more time out of my gaming time allowance!
 
Big difference between the original xbox and the 360 in terms of longevity... I'd go into detail but suffice to say that the conditions which caused them to lose so much money on the xbox project no longer exist.

Here's the problem with the comparison. Most people cannot tell the difference between 720p, 1080i, and 1080p!

Size of the text gives it away! 1080i/p are similar in text size but 720p is noticeably bigger....maybe it is only noticeable on bigger tv's :confused:

tbh tho I've never played the smaller PSN titles at 720p, only at 1080i on my older Panny plasma and 1080p on my Bravia.

Bigger compared to what? Are you toggling your TV to force 720 and 1080? Each game has its own font sizes, etc.

720p text is bigger than 1080p/i text that is how I personally can see the difference between the two res's, that and native 1080p games are mega crisp compared to 720p.

I don't force anything, all resolutions are ticked and the game chooses....for example, the text in Warhawk is bigger than that in PJ Eden as Eden is running in a higher resolution.

I also think TV's play a part. A friend of mine says LBP looks far better on my Bravia than his Samsung (don't know the model). Far crisper and up close the detail on the sackboys is very fine yet on his it isn't the same :confused:
 
I have 21 PSN titles in my library now, on my LN52A550, and none of them are 1080p, including Pixel Junk Monsters.

I also guarantee that Burnout is NOT 1080p.

I agree with your main point.

You musn't have 1080p ticked because I assure you they run in 1080p...unless I have special versions of course :D

Also, where did I say Burnout was 1080p :confused: 1080i yes, but I said it was one of the few that wasn't 1080p. Please read properly next time ;)

You have 21 psn ps3 games!! Holy shit!! I didnt expect u to have that many!! God knows what games u have but correct me if im wrong i think these are all full hd native, i think wipeout is one that fluctuates somehow (very clever!)

You need to go back and look at your settings... Pixel Junk Monsters is definitely 1080p, along with many other PSN titles.

Hedon shamefully eats crow. Well, you guys were correct. I went into my new receiver's HDMI settings. I thought the video out (VCR/iPod) HDMI was set to AUTO for the PS3, but it was set to 1080i, not allowing a 1080p signal through. I changed it to AUTO to match my other HDMI video outs, and now it works in 1080p for those titles.

Eating crow, and thanks for making me look that up. :(

IME, playing the demos of Star Wars TFU, the PS3 version looked sharper, not as dark and looked more "crisp". The 360 had better reflections though. The win goes to the PS3 on that title IMO.
 
When I finally do buy an X360, I will play cross platform titles on it rather than the PS3 because the X360`s controller feels so much better in my hands.

Buuut. PC all the way babeeee!
