PS3 HDMI Issues?

Hi all, I'm aware of all of the issues surrounding the PS3 and those Westinghouse HDTV's, but I'm noticing that mine's got issues with my Sony projection. It's a 55" rear projection (I can't recall the model number offhand, but it's from 2004) and the EXACT same thing is happening with 2 different PS3's.
Everything will work fine via HDMI for a few days and then randomly the video signal will just stop being sent over. It'll just get a slightly static filled screen, or just a blank one.
At the same time, my HDMI DirecTV box works fine, and my PS3 outputs just fine using other video outputs.
With my first PS3 (which I RMA'd), HDMI never worked again. I tried the whole "hold power for 5 seconds" trick thing to no avail, too.
Well, I got my new one this weekend and it was doing it too. I was just about to kick it, but then the 5-second power trick DID work.
Anyone else have anything like this?

Interesting. Whenever I Googled HDMI and PS3 I always just seemed to get Westinghouse stuff.
Since I "only" have 720p/1080i I might end up going the component cable road if I have more issues. I got my HDMI's from monoprice, so I got 3 cables for under $20 anyway.
The only other possibility I might have is heat. Right now my DirecTV box is fairly close to the PS3 and it outputs a lot of heat. I'm going to try and swap the 360 and PS3 and see if that does anything. I've got an Intercooler on my 360 (got it for free) so I figure it's a better idea.

The issue was never isolated to just Westinghouse TV's and the PS3. Its an issue with the PS3 and many HDTV's that do not support HDMI v1.3.

People have speculated it's more of an issue with cheap components being used in those sets (which is why the 'Westinghouse' name pops up much more than other brands). HDCP handshakes seems to be the root of the cause (so cycling inputs on the TV, thus forcing the handshake to be redone, could clear it up). Westinghouse says they can fix those issues with a firmware update to their sets, so there you go.

Personally, I haven't had any issues using my Sony V32XBR1 LCDTV and the PS3 via HDMI. (and my TV is HDMI 1.1, if you're wondering).

Yeah, my Sony was NOT cheap when I bought it. Granted it was 2 years ago, but it was retailing at 3K'ish at the time and I got it on sale just as the '05 revisions were going to be coming in.
Apparently what was going on with me was enough for Sony to RMA my first PS3, so I'm wondering if it might not be heat after all. I'm going to move all my stuff around and keep the PS3 as far from anything as possible.
Here's a shot of the setup, although I've swapped the PS3 to the top shelf with the DirecTV box:
