PS3... best PPD for the $€¥?

SMP and/or GPU bests the PS3 in Bang-for-the-Buck.

There are couple threads with some numbers in them around here... The PS3 and the GPU clients get the most science done, the GPU w/ SMP will get you the most points it seems.

For pure points I would do a couple C2D boxes. You can probably build 2 of them for what just the CPU cost is on a quad core at this point

As I've posted before.

C2D E6400@3.2Ghz
SMP Linux client in Linux
When left alone will do around 2k PPD.

You would need at least 2 PS3's to match that and I spent a hell of a lot less than it would cost for 2 PS3's.

When C2Q's drop in price in the 3rd quarter like they are supposed to, talk about rapage on points. I'm sure as hell hoping to pick up a Q6600 for $266 and dropping it into my current system at the least. Best case scenario: I'll be able to build another system and run them both.

I agree. I can't wait for Barcelona and I probably don't want to pay the price for it anyways. Looks like I'll be building a c2d box in the next month or so. Now only decision is what cpu to get: e6300, 6320, 6400. A q6600 will definately be going in the day they hit $266 though.
