Is Provantage an alright place to buy things? I just found out they have much cheaper Cooler Master 690 and Corsair 1000W/HX than Newegg.com.

I've bought many things through Provantage and I've never had a problem. Their prices are often lower than NewEgg's, though their web site isn't as well designed.

I have ordered several items from provantage, and never had a problem. Usually order from them if their prices are significantly cheaper than Newegg's, which they sometimes are.

Kind of on topic, but there are many other online retailers that are reputable besides newegg. ;) In the hardware department, you can also check out mwave, zipzoomfly, buy.com, and ewiz (or "Newbiiz" now o_0). I've seen these sites offer better pricing than newegg on quite a few occasions.

I'm going to steal something I heard someone else say a while ago but newegg is no longer the only hot spot for hardware - when they hit the scene it was like nothing else out there - retail pricing at what stuff was going for on ebay some times - insane deals 24/7 with great service - the service is still there but deals are being found all over the place now and newegg isn't always the lowest out there

its all a numbers game and newegg is in the business to make money - #1 reason why they have an auto system to raise prices on items that get many hits in a short period of time.

I'm with gwai lo on that list - hell - even frys.com has the odd great deal nowa days (but i still don't trust them rebates :p )

If you returned something, you may have ot wait for a loooooong time to get the refund because they wait until the manufacturer varifies the "factory defect". It happened to me with an Antec PSU.

I have ordered froma ll of those mentioned with no problems (edit: also Provantage), though buy.com isn't highly rated. www.resellerratings.com
