So ive been having some problems with network connectivity...
I can RDP to the box and use it normally that way..but the transfer speeds to the box are just awful like 4 MB/s????
Ive tried different cables
Ive messed with every setting on my switches...I even put them in unmanaged mode doesnt seem to matter.
Also I cant seem to get to the internet all the time from the server?
I have no idea what is going on.
None of my other boxes has this problem.

Does anyone have any Intel dual or quad port nics that I could buy???
The only thing I can think of is that im using really shitty NICs

Weird, with the driver on the disc, I was getting 70-90% of 1Gbps.....

Man this is weird its doing the same thing with the onboard NICs too? I might reinstall or something this is screwed up...the connector software isnt even working.

I ended up using a Asus P5M2/SAS LGA775 board and the Adaptec 21610SA 16 port SATAII Raid card.

that raid card seems wellw ithin my budget :)

the mobo im not finding so easy.

This home server thing looks ideal:D

Are you looking to do the same thing? There are some great mobos out there...This one I have is a little overkill for a WHS project but I got a good deal on it.

Yea only problem is that I have already filled the drives up and so I'm looking for some large drives.

Offtopic here, but I found the perfect shirt for our "club". I'm thinking of blue with black letters. Shirt is here. Ockie, if you're the club leader, what do you think?

LOL

that is hallarious. the only problem I forsee is that they don't make "tall" shirts. Those things would look like tank tops on me :(

I suppose I can see how many people are interested and have some made ;)

how tall are you?

We could put the "my [H]ard drive array is bigger than yours" on the back. And on the front in the normal logo area, put something along being an offical tb club member.

Now thats an Idea

Lets do it

are you so sure of that? :D
Well, last time I saw your setup, you were a tad shy of 15TB. That leaves Ockie, gjvrieze, and odditory above me afaik. When I put 2 of my desktop drives in there (320gb + 160gb), I was a bit short of 17TB. Ockie saw it in person, but I didn't get to see his server.

damn
im down to bit less than 13T formated, but two free ports :D
had to make more boxes so not growing as fast as i would like

I need to look into another server now as with the 22 drives I had in there, that was it...no room for any more drives. I've been considering getting one of those Norco cases and then some Supermicro ones with built in SAS expanders. You can daisy-chain them together, so expandability wouldn't be an issue. Would have to swap my 1280ML for a 1680ix-24 though however. Even though those Supermicro cases are about $1000 each, it is still cheaper than buying a 24 port RAID card for each one. You might want to get yourself one of those Norco cases if you are running out of physical space.

plan is set for dual or tripple narco setup
but gona do that sometime after xmas or newyear
wana wait and see how 1.5T drives will shake hdd market
atm have 2,3T freespace :)

That would put me between you and Blue Fox in total space, I've got a total of just over 14TB after format. I've got 8 more bays open in my Norco waiting for more 1TB ES.2's to bring up to around 21.5TB.
