Am I the only one that finds giving case mods names to be silly? Probably :D. Regarless, this one doesn't have a name. I wanted to call it Project: Big Fucking Case, but I can't swear in the title, so that was out... and lets face it, I am not a very creative person, and wasn't about to rack my brain trying to come up with something else. So, this mod shall go nameless.

The plan is to have two seperate, totally internal watercooling loops. I am going for both exellent performance and a stylish look. Of course, if style's the game, where better to start than Lian Li. Got myself a V2000B. I know the pics aren't terrific, but I am using an old camera that seems to have alot of problems in situations with poor ligthing and it also isn't too good at close ups, so bear with me.

Here she is:

Thats all for now, gunna be starting some dremel action shortly. I don't have all supplies yet, but I do have another box coming tomorrow which will give me a bit to do.

Awesome.. any ideas on where to put the radiators? Maybe 1 on the "roof" toward the front, then one on the dead bottom where the hdd cages go? Sizes, etc?? I'm interested because I'm doing something similar, except only with one loop, and a V1200 case soon.

Oh, and tips on camera stuff. If you want good shots, make sure you have plenty of light in your room. Try shooting without the flash, but set the exposure time a little longer and put the camera on a TRIPOD. :p You can get cheap tripods for like 20 bux and its totally worth it. You'll be able to get non-blurred shots of your lighting in the dark and all that good stuff. For extreme closeups, see if you have a macro feature on your camera and switch it to that. Then just zoom all the way out, and get closer up to the object and hold the camera steady or use a tripod depending on your exposure time and lighting conditions.

Thanks for the tips on the photos... I will keep it in mind.

Far as the loops go, they will concist of the following.

Loop 1: Black Ice Pro II w/ 4x Yate Loons (this will go on bottom of the case), Swiftech Storm, MCP655, DD Fillport/T-Line.

Loop 2: Black Ice GT 360 w/ 3x Yate Loons (may do push/pull if I can do it without killing off to much of my MB, this is going on the top of the case), DD Maze 4 GPU, Swiftech MCW30 Chipset, DD D5, DD Fillport/T-Line. The 360 radatior is more than I need, but the room is there, and its not gunna hurt. I will be glad I got it if I ever decide to do SLI.

Some quick shots of basic work:

I yanked out the 2nd hard drive bay. This should leave pleanty of room for the BIPII, as well as pleanty of room for cables and what not.

Mod006.jpg

And here you get an example of my horrible close-ups. Sometimes the zoom on my camera doesn't work, so I have to get right up in there, resulting in some fuzzy pics. This here is just some simple cutting to allow for wire routing behind the CD-Rom bays. Wire managment will be a crucial part of this mod. Also, I've got some edge molding coming tomorrow that I will be putting around that. I got the cut fairly smooth, its not sharp or anything, but it certainly wont hurt to make it a little cleaner.

Mod008.jpg

As you can also see in the above image, I moved the speaker to the underside of the case (what in the world was Lian Li thinking, leaving is smack in the center?). I also sleaved both the speaker wire and the front panel connectors. I won't even be able to see them, but for wire managment sake I went ahead and did it. I had some extra sleaving material lyring around. I will be doing the stock fans in a bit also. Here's another shot of the sleeved wires creeping up the back of the mobo tray.

whew... had a bit of a scare today. As I started prepping to cut a hole for one of my RadGrillz... I realized what I had planned was not going to work... there just wasn't enough room. So, I had to hit the drawing board, and try to find a new way to route tubing. In the end, I think what I settled on will work great. It means a few elbows, but being that its just a CPU loop, I think my flow will remain just fine. I wanted to keep all tubing internal, but I am going to cheat a little bit. I am going to drill two holes through the center of where the two 80mm fans are mounted, and inside though that will be an elbow. Then it will go up through the rear fan duct, as to hide the tubing and keep it under control, then right past the top of the fan duct will be another elbow. I will cut a hole in the rear mesh, and in come my tubes.

I liked the way my original layout was going to be better, but there just was no way to make it happen. Regardless, tomorrow I will be heading to the store to pick up some screws for my Grillz, and then I will have some new pics tomorrow.

Well, heres my chance to show off the leet MS Paint skills. This is my tentative plan for WCing. Not sure if its quite final yet, but I think it may do. If anyone has an suggestions, i'd be all ears.

Got my grillz in today :)

Some of my cuts could be a little smoother, but this works for now. I will sand them down a little more later. You can also see that I sleeved the fans in the case. Even though I wont see them, again, ive got some extra sleeving stuff so I fgured why not.

I see no popcorn. If you mean the packing peanuts, they are all over in my basement. I've got my own little shipping center set up down there. I have the DC team to thank for that

Goodness gracios. I decided to try and do some polishing of the inside for now.. as its alot of work and it will be done many times over. I figured it would pass the time until my next package arrived. Well, damn, I never realised how much harder it was working in a tight space, not to mention on a surface with holes.

I also need to figure out something to do with that shitspot right in the middle where the speaker was. The pump will almost certainly cover that up, but it still bothers me.

Ordered the rest of my stuff last night. The GT360 I ordered from Performance-PC's wont be in stock for a few days, but I am in no hurry... gives me a bit more time to work on other things. I've also got an order coming from Petra, which should make it midweek. At that point, I am going to break down my current loop and start setting it up in this case, make my final cuts, and get everything cleaned up. I will be spending some time lapping my blocks and flushing them with vinager, so theres still alot to do.

For anyone thats curious, by the time this is over, I will have spent over $700 . So much for a $500 budget :D

needs moar sex. er. Pix.

Right now, there isn't much more to take pics of. Over the weekend I will have lots of pics for you.

Not much going on today, but UPS did bring me some goodies...

First up, we have some pentonsin. I didn't realize the bottle was so big when I ordered it. This should last me a long time. Great deal for $8. I shall be mixing it tomorrow.

Mod303.jpg

Next up we have some Swiftech Hydrx, mixed and ready to go

Mod305.jpg

And the rest of my order from PTS: 20' of MasterKleer 7/16, white cathodes, a dd fillport, and a derlin fillport (which was given to me free by the PTS guys, thanks!).

Not much, but I'm getting bored... so I'll get some little stuff done before the weekend. Just made a quick cut on the top of the board to expand the hole that was there. My sata cables woudlnt fit through it before.

Mod314.jpg

big fucking case is right.

looks good so far.
is the pentosin you got g11 or g12? blue?

$8??? where from?

i saw the Hydrx - what's your mix gonna look like ratio-wise?

More simple stuff. All I did was cut a hole for the cathode switch. It's an odd spot, but it works perfect. On bottem means wires wont be seen, and the switch itself can't be seen from the outside either, but the casters leave enough room for me to get in there just fine.

quick question, on the 2x120 rad, why did you just cut holes and have the barbs face up through the bottom plate? if you mounted the fans to the grill, and then the rad to the fans, youd have room for tightening clamps and everything... and you wouldnt have tubes on the outside..

That was the original plan... but it didnt work out quite like I wanted it to. There ended up just not being enough room for me to position the rad and pump where I wanted, and still have the tubes come though. Part of the thinking behind the rad was to get some good airflow over the ram and mb components, so I didnt want to shift it back either. Plus, if the pump went much farther back, it would get in the way of my CD-Roms, which will be going in the lower bays.

So, this is what I came up with. Technically, its not totally internal, but its good enough, and in the end I sorta like the look of tubes creeping up the back :). It will also alow me to get the t-line as the highest point in the loop, which means good things for filling the loop.

lol@ all the fan controllers.

Good for 12 fans :). They will all be hidden on bottem anyways, you wont know they are there. As it turns out, they are terrably as important as I thought. These yate loons are quieter than I pegger them to be (though I still turned them down a bit). The stock fans are kinda noisy though, so I am glad they are there for that.

Not much to show off.... but here we have a 120mm on bottem of the case. Should help airflow inthe bottem chamber... and help supply more cool air to my bottom rad. It also leaves for a potential home to a 120mm rad. I'd doubt I would ever need it, but its good to be prepared.

:(... but if a delay, were having some problems. For the most part, its finished, ubt with the system build, something is shorting it out. I cant find the board touching metal, or any shavings that managed to get loose, so I dont know what it could be, but its causing a bit of a delay.

For lack of anything better to show, my extension cables came in from PPCS today.

Picture059.jpg

Well, this is basically done, but wont be running for a bit. I've come to the conclusion that I will be building a conroe system in this case, and using most of these guts for an HTPC.

However, here's a few shots of hardware that was in, and is not absent from the case. No temps or anything, sorry. Those will come when I get the new system.

That mess of wires has been cleaned up a but, and will be cleaned further when the new stuff gets here. this should give you an idea though! Also, the last pic is a bit old... and the orientation of the hoses is a bit different. The t-line now is infront of the pump inlet like it should be, and the pump outlet leads to the storms inlet... like it should. I dont have any pics of that though, and wont until the entire system is done.

Nice work...aside from the wiring...there's some slack tubing that I think should/could be cleaned up, but not sure if you're willing to now that everything's setup. The one area that grabbed my attention was the tubing running from the top pump to the 3x120 rad up top...not sure if that larger "arc" of tubing is needed, but all in all it's lookin' pretty good.

I honestly never thought of mounting the fan controllers in the hdd bays like that though, cool idea.

I guess it's hard to critique the tubing being that you're running two loops with two rads mounted in the way they are...all in all, nice work...hopefully we'll see some updated pics with cleaner wiring and whatnot in the not to distant future, maybe some temp reports too. ;) :)

Yeah, some wire management is definatly needed... but its a bitch with all those fan controllers. Being that yate loons have both 3 and 4 pin connectors, theres wires everywhere. I am not going to take any great strides to cleaning it up, because once the cover goes on, I wont see it.

Fair enough...out of sight out of mind. :)

With fans that have both connection types I'd prefer to take the time to cut off what I wasn't going to use, because yeah, i can see how that'd be a pain.
