Project: Ingraham

What does the original case look like? Are you planning on "wrapping" the whole case in wood? Any varnishing to be applied?

That's going to look awesome with a wooden front. I'll definitely keep my eye on this one.

Do you plan on painting or staining this case?

The body will be American black walnut veneer and the louvers will be painted with industrial aluminum paint. If I had deeper pockets I would do the louvers in cast aluminum and use it as a passive cooling system. I'm building the louver "block" so that it could be used to form a mold.if I happened to find a bag of money. :p

I gotta get me some of those brad point bits. This is looking very nice. More updates please!

What are you planning to do to hide the screws?

Gee, it seems to me you should have installed the roof before investing all the extra time in the other parts! :D

I cringed earlier in the worklog, when you cut the front out of a very nice HTPC case. But now, after seeing you progress with the build, I like how it is coming together. Very good work.
Good luck on the roof veneering. Just remember to cut it long.

Lots of luck on the roof :)

*puts lots of soft pillows underneath slipperyskip's roof to cushion any fall*

Can I borrow some of your weather? It's kind of cold here :(

Good to see you got it done without problems :)

I have a couple of wood related questions.
Are you veneering instead of using all hardwood stock because it is somewhat more stable given the heat generated by the PC?
Second, one thing I never understood about veneering is how you eliminate end grain when you have pieces of veneer overlap on an edge. For instance, at the top and the front edge of Barbie bar. Doesn't one plane along that line have end grain?
It's looking great and getting better with each update.

I have those books still. The various myths legends and fairy tale books you're holding that down with. Awesome. Oh and the case looks good too I guess ;). Beautiful wood work, man.

You're a true artist, both with wood and clamping sculptures ;)
