... or as i like to call it:

JNC Case Re-born OR "cheapo" ==modding== > "Ultra Kewl Case" :p

(I don't have digital camera, so please forgive me, and my crappy cell phone camera... :) )

This is how it looked before:
(I know... I know... ugly... :D )

Don't have a "backup case", so the "guts" were on the table for a few days:

After disassembly:

Tools of the trade...

I started out by cutting a hole for a 120mm Glacialtech Silentblade fan:

Found some unused picture frame on my attick, and used it for my new case feet :D

Spray paint makes the difference :D

Window on the top of the case so i can see my cdrom spinning

Maybe some of you saw this one :)

(if you haven't, check it out)

I added up a few extras to it:

-painted the tray

-added some ultra bright LEDs

-two modes of work
* tray closed, the red LEDs are on

* tray open, the yellow LEDs are on

(it looks much better in the dark...) :)

Side panel:

Instead of plexiglass, i used some metal net (it's cheap, but it looks pretty kewl :D )

New front panel, made out of wood :D

Finished painting the fan, decided to put it on the front panel:

I wanted to install my power supply somewhere "out of the case" to gain some room inside, and i came up with this:
Made it out of those wooden case feet i mentioned earlier and the rest of the metal net i had, to go under the original case...

All finished and assembled...
The painted fan is in the front, i also installed a LED fan and added a blue neon light inside
(they came in a combo with the case when i bought it...)

And what kind of a GTA fan would I be, if i don't have some GTA details on my case...tsk...tsk...
:D

The "best" part of the case...

Powered by:

“Noname” corporation

Model: “Ultra Crapexx” 400 W

:D

Hope you had fun watching, as i had fun modding it :)

Can you assplain in more detail how you did the LEDs in the CDROM tray?

I see how they are mounted, but how are they wired?

No problem :)

I used a reset switch from some old case remainings, and mounted it on the back side of the cdrom, but i needed something to press is when the tray closes, so i cut out a small piece of wood, like this:

Painted it in the same color as the tray, so you can hardly notice it, and mounted it to the tray (super-glue):

Schematics
(made it in Paint in 10min, don't laugh... :D )

After the tray closes down, the small-piece-of-wood-thingy is pressing the reset switch, and one pair of LEDs are on
(in this case, the red ones...)
When the tray opens up, reset switch is released and the other pair of LEDs turn on.
(the red ones turn off at the same time...)
The "+" and "-" (5V), are connected to the red(+) and black(-) wire on the molex connector...
