Anybody else having problems with stanford's website? I can't access any of their pages from my home network. I got two boxen I need to download clients for and I can't even get to their homepage!

I'm running a ClarkConnect gateway as my firewall. I have no problems accessing any other websites.

no it was a problem dealing with Level3 and Cogent but i herd that things were fixed. See this thread

Just copy the fah502-console.exe over to the other machines. Just that file only. Then you can run that and setup the clients. That should work just fine. I've been doing that for a while now and haven't had any trouble.

I'll give that a shot for the windows pc. Isn't there a different exe for linux? I'm messing around with SuSe 9.2 right now, trying to figure out linux, figured I should have it folding while I'm just fiddling around. :)

Yea there is a different one for linux.
Youll find in the download section at Standfords site.

Yeah, I know that. The problem is that I can't open any of their sites . . . . .

I went to that thread and I get "The Page Cannot Be Displayed" message. :(

I can access the Stanford site fine from work but no luck from any of my machines at home. Anybody else have any ideas at all?

you still can't access it? everything that was wrong was fixed so you should be able to access it by now.
 
Nope, no luck yet. I can't even open the stanford.edu website. I am completely Stanfordless from my home. Even my linux box is prohibited from accessing stanford sites. This is just really weird because I can access ANY other website but stanford's right now. I would check their FAQs or post on their boards for some help, but, I can't get to them . . . . argghhhhh!

Thanks to RPhArrow for sending me the Linux clients. I'll be getting those up and running later today.

 
garrrr! About every other day now I can't get to any of stanford's websites. How the hell am I supposed to borg my new employer's machines if I can't download the client?! I just reformatted my main machine and now I can't get a client for that one either. Can I just use the same downloaded console client and then do a config on it for each different machine? That would be okay wouldn't it? I could just put it on my thumb drive . . . .

 
Yeah, you can just download the client onto a thumbdrive and copy it to each machine.

I'd also recommend the "finstall" script by ivoishee (or however you spell that :p) on the FCF. When I put together my current install I was going to do everything by hand and then thought better of it and tried finstall. Best decision I made.

 
One other thing you might consider: Once you install the client and configure it on one machine, you can just copy the client.cfg to your thumbdrive, get the .reg file and the client, and use the batch file install that I wrote (It's linked in the FAQ, and i'm lazy). Then it's just a double-click on each machine to install it.

Just make sure you remove/comment the line in the batch file about deleting the install files(the ones that will be on your thumbdrive).

 
Thanks for the help guys. I finally got my A64 going today and I got two of the celerons at work borged last nite. My output should be increasing soon . . .
