I got a LG 32LD400 (basically a 32LD450 minus an HDMI input) today and I'm having some difficulties getting it to run properly connected with a DVI-HDMI cable.

If I use a DVI-VGA cable everything looks beautiful at 1920x1080 but if I run it at any lower resolutions it only displays as 1400x900 (also had some problems getting Crysis to display properly if I ran it natively). So ideally I want to run it through DVI-HDMI which is where the problem is.

If I use DVI-HDMI and run it in native 1920x1080 it looks like total garbage. I think the tv is applying some awful set of filters, because if I turn it down to 1680x1050 it looks like it does using VGA (pretty) just scaled to 1680x1050. Also, when I hit the button that displays on my tv what resolution it's running at, it will just say "1680x1050 @ 60hz". When I set it to 1920x1080 it shows up as "[16:9] 1080/60p", making me think they're catering to people who are just using this as a television. I don't know if that makes any sense but that's the feeling I get. If anyone has any idea or suggestions as to how I might get this to run natively via HDMI and not look awful, I would really appreciate it because as it is I'm likely going to return this if I can't get it working properly.

How is the text viewing on this HDTV when used as a PC monitor? Acceptable or is it blurry like most HDTV's when connected to PC?

OP, I hope you get your res issue fixed. I read that there is a PC mode on this TV that is supposed to help like the poster above stated.

Where would I go about finding this feature?

I don't have your particular tv, so I can't give you a walk through. I do know that you can set the connections as PC input through the tv's menu somehow. I've read about people doing this a lot in the avs forums.

Just go to inputs and label whatever port you have the PC hooked to as PC. Press the blue button on your remote to do this.

I didn't like labeling my port as PC on my 32ld450. I played with the horizontal and vertical sharpness settings and the text is very close , actually better IMO, to my PC monitor. Also I don't believe the 32ld400 can do 4:4:4 which may hinder your use as a PC monitor.

The settings I enjoyed best for mine was turning it to just scan mode, overscaling the image in ATi's CCC, and then tweaking the settings to my liking.

Lots of options to play with on the ld450 so I would assume the ld400 to be similar. Take some time and read over the avs forums for your monitor and if you have any questions I can try and answer them but I am by no means a pro.

Which horizontal and vertical sharpness settings did you settle on? Did you turn off Edge Enhancer? Thanks.
