Problems logging in..

My netbook is running chrome, no go on that. I cleared all cookies/cache, still won't log in.

Tried IE8, same story.

Haven't dled FF yet, but will try that.

Very strange.

IE and Chrome seem to be having this problem. FF seems to be the only way to get into [H] right now. Not that I mind but it is pretty annoying when testing Chrome.

Motaa is right. I just installed FF on my netbook and it works perfectly.

sucks because chrome is nicer on the netbook.

Win Server 2008 R2 EE with IE8 will not login since I cleared all my temporary data (cookies also) two days ago. I whacked the 5 time login limit with it and now have to wait for the 15 min lockout to pass.

My Firefox browser still has a current cookie that works so I am not wiping Mozilla's cookies in it until this is fixed. Firefox version is 3.6.

Later Edit:

I suspect the last patch cycle from Microsoft broke MSIE's handling of a login process.

My MSIE 8 is working again in the [H] right now... I just finished this weeks Windows Update cycle and got the latest paches up and running. I will now blow away my cache and see of MSIE can log back in again (edit coming in a few minutes).

Edit: Back again and just did a complete cache purge for MSIE 8, re logged in, and it worked again. Forum cookie tested by spawning a new MSIE8 window and the [H]ard|Forum recognized my login automatically... now I am off to eat my Oero cookies.

My issues started after upgrading to Firefox 3.6

I ran CCleaner to remove all cookies, cache and history. However this does not remove Firefox's Saved Password lists. I cleaned out all saved passwords and it resolved the issue. I might have been able to just clean out the password(s) for HardForum, but I just wacked them all.

I'm having no problems using Safari on Windows. Works on both my desktop and laptop. Just thought I would throw that out there. :)

I use only Chrome without issue.

We are still not sure what is going on.

DO THE DRILL as spelled out exactly.

I'm having issues with IE8, yet none with Opera and Chrome.

Wouldn't let me log in earlier, thought I was going crazy, had a new password sent to me and still wasn't working.

Cleared Cookies restarted and were back in business!

This issue was driving me nuts. Thanks to Kyles suggestions, I'm back in!

Those who are still having issues or are not sure how to clear their cookies should google and download a free program called " Ccleaner " (formally known as Crap-Cleaner). I've used this simple program for years and it works very well clearing out your cookies and browsing history. It also helps your computer out by removing unnessessary files made or left behind after an install or uninstll of programs.

Get it, use it, love it!

I had a hell of a time logging in yesterday. I had installed Windows 7 on my desktop and upon running the browser for the first time [H] kept saying invalid username/password. It was a clean install so cookies were not something I could delete. Both Chrome and IE had the problem. I tried the password reset function a couple times but it would not accept my creds. Finally this morning I tried with my android phone and it works. About to try the win7 desktop again.

Edit: My WIn7 desktop works this morning as well. Not really sure what the issue was but it seems to be working now.

ROFL wow i thought i was losing it. had to reset my password this morning, after 2 attempts it worked. left for a few hours. went to log back in about 10 mins ago....same thing. im like wtf? so again a password reset. change pass to new one. seems to be ok for now. as for the advice on using ccleaner, i use it all the time....i ran ccleaner and spybot last night before i shutdown....this morning i had login problems only with hardforum. seems very odd. the login page said the password or login name was incorrect. since i do not have any of the autosave or fillin options enabled anywhere and i have to manually enter all passwords and usernames, this does not sound like a cookie issue, but rather a server issue. i also noticed that after my re-logins after the reset, the list of recent threads was different.hmmm.

I wasn't going to make a dedicated thread for this unless you think I should but the forum and site have been running pretty slow for me all day. The rest of the Internet does not. Just a hell of a lot of traffic today or something? Just a heads up if nothing else FWIW. :)

EDIT: Solved. :)

It's been slow for me too but I figure Kyle's got some good monitoring tools for this kind of site. Regarding the logins, I was convinced there was some cracking going on until I saw this thread.

One recurring thing that happens is, when I power on my laptop to use it for the first time a day, I can come to this site, try to log on once or twice and it doesn't log me in, instead saying "failed login"

when I close my browser and pop it back up again, most of the time, this fixes the problem, if it shows me a failed attempt, then I close my browser and reopen and try again and that usually gets me in here.

I'm using Firefox 3.6 and Private Browsing Mode (simply so I don't have to erase anything, I rarely visit anything other than sports sites, this page, and fatwallet).

I'm not sure why this happens. A large percentage of the time it will log me in on the first try, then sometimes it won't and the only way to fix that is to close my browser and reopen and try again.

Wow I thought I was going crazy as well, Im glad I saw this thread.

For the past couple of days I havent been able to login, I reset my password numerous times trying to get it to go.(Using FF)

After seeing this post I tried IE and it worked perfect. I logged in, reset my password, ran ccleaner and started up firefox. Hooray it works again!

Anyone that was having this issue, please remove all cookies related to H from your browser, clear your cache etc, the usual steps & try to reproduce this issue, in other words try logging in again with the browsers that had a issue, please post up if the issue is still there, thanks.

This has happened to me a few times in the last month or so. This is the only site it happens on for me, so I'm just wondering what you guys think the issue might be, or if you're any closer to tracking down the problem.

If your having the issue, did you do what i asked in my post?

Of course. It seems the problem randomly corrected itself, though. I'm not having the problem right now or anything, but it's happened multiple times in the last month where I couldn't log in at all, no matter what I tried doing. In the last year, I'd say it's happened at least once a month, seemingly randomly correcting itself. Sometimes clearing cookies and cache would work, sometimes it wouldn't.

Its been occuring off and on multiple computers, except for ones Ive never logged in on before. And never on my portableapps.com pen drive....
