Hi Hardforum :)
I've run into a reoccurring problem lately that I just can't nail down. I've tried multiple fixes, to no avail, so I thought I'd come here begging for help :D

Basically, the issue is whenever my computer recovers from sleep, it has a 90% of 'forgetting' the usb etron 3.0 drivers. There's the yellow-exclamationpoint-triangle next to the device in device manager, and it stops working. From here I have two choices: shutdown or restart. Both have about a 50% chance of working. That is, first I restart, and sometimes the correct driver will automatically be used. Sometimes, it doesn't, then I have to shut down, wait 20 seconds, then start up, and it works again. Sometimes it fails; on occasion shut and restart both fail. Then I end up uninstalling/reinstalling the etron driver (it's on my desktop) and everything works fine again.

So you can imagine this would get tedious after a while
I tried multiple 'fixes', but none of them worked

1. updating the latest drivers for mother board
2. updating latest bios
3. updating latest etron usb 3.0 driver

it just keeps happening. Whenever the device won't be recognized, I already know what will happen. A 'installing new driver' popup comes out (even though it's obviously unnecessary..) and it says 'unknown device successfully installed'. And of course, it's then listed as 'unknown device' in the device manager, and rendered useless, of which I proceed to restart/shutdown/or reinstall drivers. rinse and repeat. It's like my computer has amnesia.... :(

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks much :)

Which motherboard and revision?

Gigabyte Intel: Z68A-D3H-B3 mobo

also, I assume it's the newer revision but I have no evidence of this.

Just an update: I'm going to try disabling USB-selective-suspend-setting under power management, and see if that fixes the problem

Has it been doing this ever since you built the PC or rather quite recently?

Only after I installed a new solid state drive and put everything into a new case. Weird

Been having to continue the strange 'ritual', after pc goes to sleep. Anyone find anything?

have you OCed? I ran into USB 3.0 dropping out when I OCed before, but that was on a PCIe add-on card in a X58 system.

Do the issues occur when the PC is assembled outside of the PC case?
