Problem with pump

righy guys I have in my setup:

Alphacool PUM Laing DDC-pump 12V ultra
DangerDen clearflex 3/8" tubing
worm style hose clips
Alphacool NexXxoS XP on socket 939 CPU block
Alphacool NexXxos Extreme II radiator (dual 120mm)

Now i did a 24 hour test everything seemed fine,

when i asembled it together with components wired everything switch my psu on,

push the power switch everything flashes on for 2 seconds

check all connections to find ive missed a molex that powers front fans.

with everything connected i try again and a small pop..

i investigate to find nothing but i can still smell a burning plastic smell (yuck)

me being me i power on again and everything works exept my pump...

i change molex cable to my pump, power on again & it works, only at the moment if i left my finger on the bottom of it i would burn myself, the thing is so hot.

Also my primary monitor color's have gone crazy its like 16 bit & ive tryed to change all sorts but nothing..it still says its on 32 highest bit but its not.

I'm lost for ideas, But my main question is:

Is my pump safe to run under these tempretures, its not mounted properly and i can find anywhere to mount it because of my no tool style case,

pump defective probally a short in the motor winding, power supply now suspect.
 
yea i agree, if theres a short in the pump somewhere, that pop you heard and burning smell is probably a capacitor in your power supply, which is now not feeding correct voltage to your video card which might explain all the pretty colors. i would not turn the system on again until you find and fix the problem incase something else might fry
 
you guys are probably spot on although my PSU is fine it was defo the pump thats fried, it powered off by itself & what worried me the most is i put my ear next to it & could actually hear it frying away :eek:

anyway my monitor is back to normal now i have a feeling it was just my water cooling tubes rubbing on the card as everything is now un installed ( watercoolingwise)
 
did you have a water block on your vid card? if you did, and the problem went away when you put the stock air cooler back on, the video problems could have been due to poor contact/water block not installed properly causing one of the components to overheat. just an idea, ive had that happen before when i first installed my Tyee block on my first 1900xt, the block wasnt flat on the memory chips and caused all sorts of problems, one of which was the monitor turning funny colors.
 
i just had the CPU being watercooled,

I'm sending off the pump for RMA tomorrow, hope all goes well...

Does anyone have experiances with ebuyer.com for RMA?

not with ebuyer.com but the last time i had to RMA a pump was my D5 from voeyurmods.com. i sent it back to them in december, they emailed they recieved it, havnt heard from them again and their website is down perminantly... horray
