This isn't really a huge problem, but defintly bugging me. I have a exhaust fan in my case of course and recently purchased the Gigabyte M61P-S3 motherboard. Works fine, no worries...fans working too. Just noticed the other day in bios it says "Sys_fan = 0rpm." meaning it's not detecting it, but it's detecting the cpu_fan. Is it possibly because it's only a 2 pinned fan and not 3 or 4 pin, any help appreciated!

Yeppers, you got it, the third wire, usually yellow is used to report the fan rpm to whatever it is plugged into. No 3rd wire = 0 rpm.

You should be able to disable "system fan alarm" or "system fan fail" or whatever specifically it is called in your bios if it is generating alarms. If there are no alarms then there is nothing to worry about.

2 pin fan connectors have voltage and ground wires only. Without the sense wire then the motherboard doesn't have anything to report. It's not a board/bios problem, it's your fan.
