Sended money via Western Union (i know now how stupid that was), he said that he shipped laptop, but didn't gave me tracking #. I asked for it, than i demanded it and he just disappeared. Well, the joke's on me.

I just don't want anyone else get in this situation. And the odd thing is - he did sell something from this forum, and he has a positive Heatware responses.

Be careful with buying something from forums, don't be stupid like me.

Waiting for his explanation and posting his info so everybody could see, with who you should never deal with.

how long has it been since he's last contacted you. Maybe something happen, but after a certain amount of time then yeah maybe something is wrong on his part.
 
Sended money 20.09, he responded for about a week making stupid excuses for not giving me tracking # (i can't find it on the receipt; i can't find the receipt) and now just vanished with my money.
 
FS thread was closed on 9/19 - only 10 days ago. If this is you, you're in Russia? Gonna take more than 10 days to ship there.

Oh - and I don't think you're supposed to post personal information about the seller in Tips/Tricks/Trolls - especially not inviting someone to do injury to the person.
 
I've already contacted him, have also sold large items in the past with no issue. Will be getting tracking to him tomorrow. Just finished moving and haven't been checking the forums regularly the last couple days. I wasn't able to find the tracking information and need to go to the post office and talk with them.

Mackowitz: It was sent via usps international express so it should be there by now, I'd be worried if I was him as well.

He told me that he shipped it by USPS Express Mail International, and at post office they told 3-5 days. It's been almost 7 and since the first day he told me that laptop is shipped i can't get a tracking number from him, nor any other kind of proof that he even shipped it.

About his personal info - yes, i think i'm too mad now, i'm gonna calm down and see what happens. In case of nothing - i have every right to post his adress, so anybody, who would think about buying something from him take precautions.

I don't, I'm going to the post office later today to get some documentation. It has been a week since the package was shipped (sent it on the 22nd) so it should be there by now, the only thing I can think of is that it may have gotten stuck in customs. Either way, we'll know later this afternoon!

Just FYI I've never gotten "tracking info" for ANY USPS international shipment I've ever done. At most you get a customs number that really isn't good for much of anything until AFTER the package arrives. Perhaps express is different but I doubt it. It's quite likely he couldn't find anything to give you because it simply wasn't there.

The only rights you have on this forum are what you are granted based on the rules that govern them. I'd suggest you follow them. Honestly it sounds like you might be overreacting a bit here.

And yes, as you've said payment via Western Union is in fact very stupid. :D

EMS did provide tracking numbe, i shipped out via EMS couple times and that is the only viable way of tracking international shipment via USPS, although it's more costly than the Priority International.

I've sent a number of items to my relatives in Asia via USPS Express Mail, and you can track the shipment via its tracking number. It typically says the item is at the customs when it arrives at the foreign location, and doesn't get updated until it actually gets delivered. Customs will contact the recipient if they need to pay tax, etc (which happened a package to my brother-in-law last time).

The tracking number is located in the payment receipt, as well as on the duplicate copy that you get back from the Express Mail label...
 
The main problem is that i can't get tracking # from him. Every day i asked for it, but every time got different reason why he can't name it. Understand my anguish. I can wait for week, for 2 weeks, even for a month, but i need to know i'm not waiting in vain.
 
There is no tracking number for international, unless sent Express. Priority will take about 8-12 days, and First Class about 14-21days to Russia usually.

The other factor that comes into play is Customs, which can further drag the shipping time.

The delivery was decided USPS Express International for 130$. I assume tracking # is included.
 
Situation is working out, 2 days ago i got tracking number. Waiting for it to activate now.

Now I'd like to apologize to Atara for angry and offencive post and that freaking out. I hope you understand all that was reaction for days of waiting and worrying...

The package came. And what i see?













Looks nothing like laptop, right? Looks more like a SCAM.
The tracking # was ER163882004US, then if you push Track with options and choose Russia you'll see that at customs they wrote weght 0.348 kg. It's that 11,7 lbs.& Ozs that was on the receipt.

He listed the wrong thing intentionally on the customs form and even shipped an item of an obviously wrong weight for that laptop which sets him up with mail fraud. Also another Class C felony of theft in the second degree since he lives in Washington State. I am sure it breaks more laws but I don't have time right now to bother looking it up. Maybe an actual law student or lawyer could help you more with this. IMO vengence/justice is always worth it. ;)

Damn right you are. The only and biggest problem that i live in Russia, and will have a hard time suing this bastard. If i'll find anyone else willing to do this, i'll support him with every way possible.
I'm contacting police via email, and getting his home adress.

Contacted IFFC, his local police, even his mother. Talking with attorney. Sammie, shouldn't mess with Russians.

So I just wanted to add in here that I made a deal with Atara through PM's in which I ended up buying a fully built desktop from him, and I went to his home and paid in cash. He seemed like just a normal guy and I didn't sense him as being malicious at all, for what its worth. That being said, I find it a bit fishy that he was saving up to move and/or buy a car, yet he always has high end components for sale, and also had a similar build made shortly after he sold me his old one, which was then on sale...

I will add that the PC is and has been working great, I have bought some extra stuff for it etc. Now I am wondering if my stuff is stolen...

Anyways, the reason I am posting is because I would like to know if the Mods would like me to send them Atara's home address, or if it is okay to send to userus.

**Also worth mentioning is that the return address listed in the pics, is not the same address I was given by him. The addy that was given to me I put in my google maps and it took me to his home. So the one I have is correct.

I have to ask is there anything hardocp is going to do? With this theft we are now at the 4th or 5th account he has made on hardocp and stolen from people.

Be aware that Sam Shreve uses multiple alias and fake adresses

What can we do? While we try to identify and block them, there's no way to stop someone from re-registering without giving any indication of their prior identity. We do have rule 0:

0) In the instance that we are contacted about any member here being a "bad trader" or a "troll," we reserve the right to turn any and all IP and personal information we have on that member over to any law enforcement authorities and/or any other group or individuals we desire. If you do not agree with this rule, do not trade on our boards.

Outside of that there's really not a lot we can do. The best thing you can do is follow good trading practices to avoid being ripped off. Even the most diligent individual can get trolled, but using some common sense will stop 99% of it.

Its not a matter of caring, its a matter of responsibility.
The responsibility is, and always has been yours, to be sure that your dealing with a reputable person.

There are a strict set of guidelines posted right at the top or the F/S section that should be followed to help insure a satisfactory trade.
Although, there still are no guarantees, if these guidelines are followed, your chances are much greater.

In your first post, you even admit to sending money via Western Union, and then go on to say you know it was a bad idea.

so on a personal level, I do care, as I'm sure all the mods do, no one likes to see anyone get ripped of, but at the end of the day, we are just people at the end of a keyboard, much like yourself.

Thought I would throw in my .02-

I just completed a transaction with "Atara" early this week for a GPU.

Now, while I am new to the forum trading/Heatware thing, I am a LONG time Ebay-er (believe it or not, since the time when 99% of people would say "what's Ebay??"...), so I am NOT new to the idea of "buy the seller, not the merchandise". (a great way to business online, in general).

I scoped out his Heat, and all looked legit- I DID send a postal MO at his request, and yes, it was a gamble. (It did NOT occur to me that he could be using multiple IDs, apparently changing HEAT names once he gets bad feedback)

So here's the kicker- I DID the GPU, as stated, still sealed in the plastic, in a Newegg box, no less. BUT...And this is kinda' a big BUT- I did NOT get the "original Newegg invoice for warranty". This would have been a deal breaker for me, as I REALLY wanted the invoice for warranty. There were a couple others for sale here on the forum, that DID have the invoice/warranty intact, so that's what hooked me on his...

Our communication was top notch UNTIL he got the MO. I contacted him assuming it was an oversight as to the exclusion of the invoice, and have heard NOTHING back after numerous PMs...(got the card on Tuesday morning). I can only assume I was also a victim, albeit to a MUCH lesser degree than most of you here.
