I have a set of logitech VS4121 2.1 speakers. The problem I'm having is I can hear an audible humm, even when the speaker volume is at 0, bass at 0, etc.

The noise is coming from the Sub. Also if I even touch the cord that runs to the sub the sub will make an incredible amount of noise, its really annoying. These obviously arn't great speakers but they were I think 100 bucks when I bought them last year.

Any thoughts? just cheap?

For starters, make sure it's plugged into the same outlet/power strip as your computer. You might have a bad cable also.

Here's another comment making sure you have the speakers plugged into the same outlet as the PC. If they are in the same power bar then plug them directly into the wall outlet and see if that makes a difference.

Also, check your Windows volume settings. If master volume and wave volume are at 100% then you might be overdriving the amp in the speakers (not to mention the sound card). Back them off to about 80% and see if the noise goes away. You don't need to have the sliders on 100%, just turn up the volume on the speakers a bit more.

Is this something you just noticed?

yes the computer and speakers are both plugged into the same power bar. The noise is still there when master is turned down.

I tried plugging the speakers into the wall by themselves and same problem. It just sounds like its picking up a ton of interference.

Probably just cheap. Bad cable or a bad amplifier .. The amp is most likely within the subwoofer. My Logitech Z560 sub would also make an audible hum at any volume level, though it would remain the same if the cables, etc. were touched.

what happens if you unplug the stereo jack from the computer but leave them powered on?

same thing, no change.

Also its not just the humm, what annoys me more is that when I accidently kick the cable on the floor or just barely touch it, it makes the sub go crazy, tons of static bass.
