Problem only happens on the second try??

I'm playing Mirror's Edge, at the first part where you see the helicopter shoot through the blue cloth (a PhysX effect), and the first time that I encounter this sequence it works fine.

However, if I die and come back to this part again, when the Helicopter shoots through the cloth the "shards of cloth" seem to 'multiply' in the direction that they fly and there are huge bands of cloth that fill the screen.

If I can blindly manage to get to the next part with clear plastic 'cloth' the same thing seems to being happening and then the game freezes and quits.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to fix it?

Get the latest nVidia PhysX software, will fix the issue.

I installed the latest PhysX software, 9.09.0428, the latest graphics driver, 185.85, and the latest patch for the game, 1.01, but the issue still occurs.

I guess it's a problem with the game.

I have the game and aside the freezing problems that got fixed with the patch, it plays perfectly so not sure what to recommend.
Are you using a secondary card for Physx? Does the problem happen with and without Physx?

Hmm, I don't have my card overclocked. Remember this only happens when PhysX is turned on.

I'm going to try underclocking and see if it helps.

Edit: WOW.... I underclocked core and memory by 100Hz and it seems to have fixed the issue. Weren't my original speeds reference? I'm going to check.

Thanks GoldenTiger

Edit 2: Nevermind, it still happens, although less frequently. . _ .
It turns out my 9800GT was factory overclocked, but when clocked at stock speeds it still happens more frequently than when underlclocked. Does this indicate a bad part or a bad model?
Could it still be a software issue?

It's hard to rule out a software or hardware issue without some more troubleshooting. Perhaps try another card, or install newer (different) drivers?

I don't have another PhysX capable card to test with, so I guess I'll just play this part without PhysX on.
