I have this problem NTLDR Missing... When i switch to my old hd, it booted to windows fine, how do i solve this problem?

when i go into bios to the drives screen, it freezes.

i cant boot anything from the cd-rom drives...

sometime it would freeze during p.o.s.t.

also, when i put in a boot disk and i tried to go to c: it says invalid drive specification

are you overclocked? try backing off the fsb/memory if so

i just fixed this problem on a friends laptop.

the hard drive and the cdrom were suspects but in the end... one of his ram stick was bad.

try booting up with 1 of x amount of ram if you have more than 1. other than that... maybe borrow some ram from another comp?

Make sure your cd rom drive(s) and floppy are empty.

A bad hard drive can cause the bios to lock up (stuck in auto detection) it can cause a bunch of things happening really. So can a bad cd rom etc. But since you said the error that really looks like a hard drive.

Your drive may be set to hidden - in which case you will need to unhide it with FDISK or a similar utility.

ok i got my cd rom drive to work

i tried that recovery console, fixboot c:

rebooted, still get that NTLDR Missing

i hope my hd aint dead!!!!!!!!

PROBLEM SOLVED! i ran windows setup and replaced the WINNT files and it booted to windows just fine! oh thank god! :D :D

i have similar probs sometimes... in my win98,win200 dual boot...

sometimes wen i boot into win98 it asks for ntdlr wen win98 is fat32 not even nt based.. dno y... it comes up 2 times ever since i put win200 on to it dual boot since september ish... but wen i turn off and back on it seems to be aight ... and am able to boot into win98

NTLDR is short for NT Boot Loader. This is a vital part of the Windows boot files. If you get this error, just repair your windows install and it should be fine!
