Iam currently learning english so sorry for my mistakes and dont know much about upgrating a computer.

I have Intel motherboard D865perl with as you know socket 478 and p4 2.8 cpu(northwood 512cache)
I tried to upgrate my cpu to p4 3,2(prescot 1mb cache) and when i start the pc i get nothing. No beeps, no screen on the monitor. Only the lights on the power button is on.

Any idea what iam doing wrong?

Hi, hard to say, here is the list of supported CPUs. If I had to guess I would say your bios may need to be updated. The link at the bottom should take to the the main page for your board and from there you can find bios updates.

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D865PERL/sb/CS-026961.htm

It also seems that only certain revisions of the board support the prescott CPUs, see the side bar on the right and check your boards revision number.

how i can know what bios version iam using?
and is it easy to update my bios?
thanks for the reply

Clear the cmos by pulling out the battery on the motherboard for 45 seconds and putting it back in. Then try to turn it on.
