Is there a way to make your printer not use black ink for something? I know some printers have this setting, but I am not sure if there is also a software component or something that's built in to the OS/software/etc. I am running Win 7, and have a Lexmark S300 all in one printer.

Probably not. Printer manufacturers deliberately disable logical printing processes (i.e wtf would I need yellow ink to print a black and white document?, etc) in order to force you to buy more ink.

This. I get fed up having to replace color cartridges when all I do is print in black.
