Does anyone know if theres a way I can use both of my Macs G4s for folding? Theres another proc there, idling and doing nothing...it needs to be workin' on some proteins! :p The OSX SMP client is Intel only, am I just out of luck? Or is there an "unoffical" way?
 
I don't think there is a ppd smp client available. However, you should be able to install 2 console clients to use both cpu. Since i'm not a mac guru, I cannot help but I'm sure someone else will do :)

 
I'm not familiar with the power PC client, but I would expect that it would allow you to run two instances with different machine IDs. The reasonably easy to set up the original console version to run separately on multiple cores.

I'm also not certain about your setup, which can change the setup. If its two physical processors, an SMP client won't do you much good in the first place, since it is only made for multi core machines. However, if it is a dual processor computer, the only way to use them both is to use the different machine IDs in the advanced setup. Recommend using InCrease to setup and run multi-processors.
I use it for my G5 Quad and G4 MDD DP.

Incorrect. Dual and quad processor machines can run the SMP client just fine as long as the CPUs are fast enough to complete work units on time.

SMP can mean multicore or multiprocessor.
