i'm doing a new build and plan on using this PSU

550w, they say +12v rail has 36amps

but 550 / 12 = 45amps, i'm an electrician, i know better

opinions ?

You want some time to edit before you get flamed? ;)

A computer PSU doesn't put all of it's power out on the +12V rail. So there's nothing unusual about the 12V rail putting out less total wattage than the total capability of the PSU. You're forgetting the capabilities of the +3.3V, +5V, -12V and +5VSB.

The unit is a Wintech. Probably 500W @ 40C, but enough for most builds and better than a lot of the crap PSU's (stuff that comes with cases, Deer, Powmax, etc.)

yeah, i typed that out wrong :p, i know that all rails get added and thats the total amperage

ps, i saw a deer 600w for $30 and i was like wtf is deer noname $hit

12v total != 12v1+12v2. It's the combined wattage for 12v / 12.

Ya sure? On computer PSUs, maximum output is usually a lot less than adding all the rails together. ;)
