Hi guys,

I was wondering if you could help me spec out a new build.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Sound Mastering/Music Production/ProTools/Running a Control Booth for an Auditorium
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Under 5K (less than a Mac Pro)
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
U.S. / Los Angeles
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
2 Xeon CPU's / Mobo / 24+ GB RAM / at least 512GB SSD Drive for OS and Apps / 2TB Mass Storage Drive / Multiple Blu-Ray Drives / Rackmountable Case / PSU / NVIDIA Workstation Graphics / Cooling (Fans, CPU HSF, etc.)
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
None
6) Will you be overclocking?
No
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
Dual 24" Monitors (1920x1200)
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
In the next few months
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
USB 3.0 / SATA 6GbS / RAID (if it would be beneficial to have 2 SSD's in a RAID setup)
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit -- Should I consider Windows 8 when it is released?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Since you're in CA, buy as much of your parts as possible from Amazon.com or Tigerdirect.com as they do not charge CA residents tax like Newegg does.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
In the next few months
Can you narrow down that time frame any further? If you can't, please come back when you're 1-3 weeks away from buying the parts of this PC and ask for advice then. Our parts recommendations tends to change monthly.

Not until Win 8 SP1 comes out as Windows 7 is still a solid OS.

I can build this in the next two weeks so I could take recommendations now. Thanks for the other tips.
