I have a basic tester that has LED's in a circle that just light up if the volatage is ok.

My question is that On an old 250 ALL the lights light up fine, but on the latest PSU's I have (650W+ 700W) the -5 light does not turn green.

However they seem to be working fine, is it something to do with 20 v 24pin?

The newer motherboards do not use/need the -5V which was used for standby power. Shortly thereafter a lot of power supply manuf stopped providing a -5V voltage. Just check the label on the sides of the supplies in question, I bet you dont find -5V SB votlage listed.

Thanks that makes sense now.. Having 2 power supplies not showing that had me confused especially since yesterday my m/b reset itself for somereason, meaning the power would not start unitl I reset the jumper (heart attack!!)
