Power supply limiting my OC?

what else is sucking juice in your rig.. because if you're crossfire 2900's or running a x300 is going to make a difference. Also harddrives and such.

THe nickel plating is getting all messed up with little rainbow swirls

HOLY CRAP ! thats a sign of very high heat, much much higher than should be. The case of the power supply is doing that ? Touch the side of the power supply Where this is happening it should only be barely warm. If it is hot I would rma the supply.

But before I did that, I would also make absolutely certain if this is a new built that you have not shorted out the motherboard. If the heatsink uses a backing plate make sure it is not touching any metal or solder joints on the back of the board. Standoffs only where needed and screw heads are "in the circles". Make sure none of the "little fingers" on the back I/O plate have gone inside a USB connector or something.

It soulds like something is seriously wrong, your OC is horrible and no way the plating on the power supply should get discolored. If you just built it, take it all apart and do over. Check the heatsink backing plate for where solder joints have punctured the insulation.

Nope there are no serious heat problems at all and the tuniq is fit snug on the board. Im also running an 8800gts, 2 hd's, 1 optical, and a tv tuner

The power supply is cool to the touch so im thinking that i should just go out and buy a new one. I have been using this same supply for two years and this is the 2nd system that it has been used in
