I'm having an issue with my Dell 2005FPW monitor.

When I turn on my computer from a cold boot, the monitor may never show an image on the screen. It'll just be blank and the power button orange; also, my keyboard and mouse are never initialized. It will say something along the lines of "Power Save Mode - Move Mouse or Keyboard to Turn on Screen" but the keyboard and mouse are never initialized so I can't get out of power save mode.

It'll typically show an image or work fine after maybe 5-6 on/off cycles of the monitor and computer.

Anybody know what the issue could be? I can't contact Dell support cause my monitor doesn't have a service tag.

I have a 2005FPW and have never seen this. Does pressing the input select switch (left-most) 4 times help kick it out of sleep mode? Do you still get the floating "No Input Signal" thing when on other inputs?

It sounds almost like an OS issue the way you describe it. The monitor being put to sleep straight away at boot. Could always use a separate USB hub rather than the built in one..

I've had the 2005FPW since 2006 and this problem just started happening in a past month or two.

Pressing the input select 4 times doesn't work.
I do get the floating no input signal box on other inputs. If I remove the DVI cable, I will get a floating no input signal box on that input.

Also, I'm not using the monitor's USB hub. The keyboard and mouse connected directly to the motherboard do not initialize.

If you have the keyboard and mouse connected to the motherboard and NOT the screen, there is something wrong with your PC, so I'd check that first.

Good luck!
