Power Question--thinking about adding a color laser printer to my system

Currently I have a laser all-in-one and an old color inkjet attached to my PC. I'm debating replacing the inkjet with a small color laser, but I don't have another outlet to plug it into (the inkjet's plugged into a UPS, but I'm sure the laser would trip it). Since the printers would never print at the same time, I'm wondering if it wouldn't be OK to use a tap and plug them into the same outlet. Thoughts? Thanks--

Sure, but I would use a decent power strip, not one of those el-cheapo cube tap thingies.

This is assuming you dont have a iron or space heater also plugged in to that wall outlet.

If you are still concerned, figure that a 120V standard wall receptacle and wiring is good for 15A , so thats about 1800 watts. Just look on the back of everything plugged into that receptacle and add up the wattages listed on the info plates.

Dont know what you are printing but dont see any reason to have the inkjet on the UPS. Guess it really does not hurt anything much, its just printing is seldom mission critical in a blackout and if it was on it would divert some power that might be used to finish a critical job before the computer had to be shut down due to low batteries. But its unlikely its a big deal, just caught my eye is all.
