As [H] member for a few years and a long time lurker I've noticed a select few members constantly post about a hundred times a day...every single day. Front Page News and a few other sub-forums are particular favorites of these individuals who basically take over topics with their constant barrage of posts.

I think some sort of posting quota or limiter would help to curb these increasingly prevalent nuisances and allow others to voice their opinion without being drowned out. I realize that blocking certain users is an option but its not really a great solution.

Thoughts?

I think the best response you are going to get is add the users to your ignore list.

I personally just ignore most of their posts, they are the equivalent to the loud mouthed attention whores AFK, don't feed them and eventually they will quiet down.

My ignore list grows frequently. haha

Putting a daily quota on the boards would not be a good idea, some of us post useful information when helping others.

How would we ever get to the 16k post count with quotas?
:D

It's already taken me 12 years to get 8k posts...

A horrible idea ..... Defeats the purpose of a forum. If you honestly cannot stand their posts, put them on ignore as said above. Ive yet to however see someone "drowned out" because of others posting .... if it is truly excessive a mod will deal with it, but to limit someone from posting what they want would kind of be well un-American....

I had an account with this same username before the inactivity wipe sometime in 2004 where I lost the old one, and I think I'd only be at 16k just now if I hadn't let my name go inactive. I don't remember exactly when I first registered but I think it was sometime in 2001. Scary to think about how much time has passed. I post so little nowadays that I think it'll take another year or more to get to the 16k mark.

For some reason, I thought you had way more posts than that. FYI, in my 7.7 years here, I've made 41,212 posts as of this post. :)

@ BryanSTG
Can you provide examples of people whos posts drowned out others? As others have pointed out, I rarely see that.

Why would you ever limit the amount of posts users could make on a forum? Especially those of us who ONLY use [H] forum as far as forums go.

ESPECIALLY those of us who have subb'd to genmay just to be able to BS as much as we want with everyone else...

horrible, horrible idea...

...IMO:D

Frontpage news, if you mean Steve, thats his role to find daily news and post it, he has done so for ages.

Its basically his job, since he is one of the H crew.
