I'm getting around 38/58 C Load with the ATI Silencer 5 Rev 2
 
with stock cooling i got:

idle: 50's
load: mid 90's... i even got dropped out of ut2004 once with the message that my cards clock rate has been lowered to protect hardware damage! (it was running stock and my case had good ventilation)

with ati silencer added i get:

idle: low-mid 30's
load mid 50's.

amazing....
 
Wow and I thought my x800xtpe temps with the single slot cooler were bad...... :eek:

I didn't have the double slot cooler but my clocks are close to x850xt's @ stock so here are my temps anyways.

Stock - 50C idle / 85C load

Zalman VF-700Cu - 41C idle / 63C load

I was about to install my VF700 on mine until I saw your temps after installation -- disappointing compared to the Arctic Silencer. Maybe I should order that one instead?
 
All you with +80C on the stock cooler need to get AtiTool or Ati Tray Tools and change teh factory fan speeds. The stock fan works well but the stock fan does not go above 15% until 86C.

I run HL2 maxed out at 1680x1050 with good fan speeds (meaning its at 100% at 75C) and it never gets above 75C.

If you think that'll work better for you then yeah. But it all really depends on your case airflow. If you got sucky airflow get the Silencer. If you have decent airflow like me, either choice will work. If your case is highly ventilated, you can't go wrong with the VF-700Cu.

61c load

VF700-Cu w/OCZ copper RAMsinks

I doubt the Silencer would be much better. I tried one and it was defective so I just got the Zalman instead. The Silencer seemed to use thermal pads for the RAM which I'm not real crazy about.
 
45c idle and 63c load (after an hour of gaming)

this is all stock
 
man those X850's get hot! i have my X800XT PE clocked at 550/600 with ATi silencer 4 on it and it never gets above 56C. and it idles around 35-30C.
 
There seems to be a lot of variation here. Even with stock cooling some people are down near 60c @ load which surprises me. Yet others with stock cooling are nearly 20c higher? Makes no sense. 20c is a lot of difference for just ventilation in the case to be the factor there.

My "old" X800XTPE had load temps in the mid seventies and was down to 60c when I installed a ZM80D-HP.
 
well "stock" my x850xt-PE had a max temp of 110C and would beep and jitter the pc :rolleyes: but after i took the heatsink off and cleaned off the limited amount of factory paste and put on some zalman thermal paste"dont hae any arcticsilver atm" with the stock cooler the load temp is around 85C with the stock cooler, i have the ati tray tool fan setup to 70c 50%, 80c 73% 90c 100%
 
Does anyone know if the memory makes contact with the stock cooler if you remove the thermal pads and used AS5?

Drop the 70c to 60c, the 80c to 65c and the 90c to 70c and I bet your load temp drops to 70-75c.

Seriously who ever set the stock fan settings on the cooler wanted those suckers to burn.
 
Problem is that at least with the X850XTPE stock cooler it starts to get rather noisy when you push it over 25%. At least mine was anyway. 18% was barely audible but man it starts getting bad when you push it.

just tried that, hottest it got was 81c
 
Hi all. Mine 41.c idle, 64.c load. Stock cooling. Side fan on my case may be helping as it blows over both sides of the card.
 
Those of you reporting stock cooling and temps under 80 should use a tool that keeps track of your peak temp and make sure that you're not trying to jump out of a game and then checking the temps. In those few seconds it is common for the temps to drop more than ten degrees C.

yea when i exit a game by the time i see the temp in the bottom right its at about 55c def. cant jump out to check temps
 
ATI Tool artifact scanner is good for this, better than a game. Run that and monitor your temps as it goes. That's how I obtained my 60c figure.
 
My X850XT-PE
I get about 24-30c idle
and around 80-90c Load
The highest I have seen it is 95c in BF2, caused the card to crash
 
Stock out of the box - 48/76
Reinstalled HS w/ AS5 and tighten - 42/72
Zalman VF700cu - 37/62
 
if i run the fan at a constant 100% no matter what temp, will this kill the fan sooner or do you think it would last for about 3-4 years?
 
Fan will last, you wont... The sound that thing makes at 100% will make you insane!
 
My Sapphire pci-e 850xt:
idle:38
load:67 (with thrdribl)
room temp: 20c

Just setup a new system yesterday, card runs great but man even as I type this the fan is quite loud. Oh well, I have a Zalman vf700-cu that I'll put on in the next few days.

Edit/update:
I couldn't resist installing my Zalman even though my heatsinks for the video memory won't get here till tomorrow. The ones that came with the Zalman lost their stickiness after being used once before. At any rate here are my new temps:

Idle 35
Load 55

Nice drop on the load temp. I didn't expect much of a drop on the idle temp.
 
Visiontek x850xtpe just installed in new Dimension 9100.
Stock.
Logged mid to high 50s idle and mid 70s running Doom3 and BF2.
My GPU enviro runs mid to high 50s.

Another option is ATI tray tools (different program than ATI tool) and it has an option to log temps to a .log file. Kinda nifty, you just look at the log after you exit a game.

Right click in the taskbar icon and go to hardware then overlocking. I think that's where you will find that option.
 
Hey guys,

I just found a FREE way to drop your temps a little. If you are using the Catalyst suite of drivers from ATI, it installs a service called "Ati Hotkey Poller" service. On my PC it uses about 2MB of memory but 25% of my CPU time all the time. I disabled the service in Computer Management, rebooted and i had a 5c drop in my card temps...........

Visontek X850XT w/ MCW50 and Tweakmonster Ram sinks.

31c idle
36c load for 30 minutes.

38c load after 3 hours of Doom 3.

Before water 90c+ with stock cooling. Idled really high too mid 40's maybe.

Right now idle 31c, board temp 34c.

On first turn on before the water gets 'warmed up' the idle is 29c.
