wow classic piano build :)

something for a change

Took a while to get my new work area setup. So much organizing to do, but when all is said and done, I have more drawer/shelf/desk space than I could have ever expected. Here are some pics with the the rig up and running.

I'm still working on getting that monitor in the closet setup above my other two where the speakers are at. I've always thought that too many monitors side by side is just counter productive, where a monitor setup above (rather than to the side) would be more effective. I'm looking at getting a EVGA UV16 USB device to run either the side one or top one.

I'm also in bad need of a wireless headset for games. The headphone and mic wires bug the sh*t outta me and don't let me run into another room quick when needed.

i like the chair, what brand is it?

Ok, I have always been worried about posting my workstation setup but here goes!

What's that laptop that you have?

Its a Dell Latitude D630 that short of being a T9300 processor is fully loaded. It has a hard wired serial/com port which for networking/automation gear is a live saver for programming.

It is around 2.5 years old now, upgraded it to 4GB of ram, a Momentus XT 500GB drive, and have worn out a few keyboards (I type like a mofo).

I am a Cisco/SonicWall/HP/Whatever network engineer and you still need to flash some of the older gear with serial console connections. I was given a brand new ThinkPad T410s and on my second call I had troubles with the three USB/Serial adapters connecting to an older HP Procurve core switch.

A lot of hi-tech geek-ness you've packed into 850 sq. ft.!

Thanks :D

All of the PC's and Networking gear is in my second "bedroom" and it is around 10x8 feet.

I am seriously thinking of selling my Core i7 machine simply because it runs too hot... Room is to small to have much a large "heater" lol

But besides the second bedroom being packed with tech stuff the rest is very tasteful in terms of decor. Nice original/impressionist art (pineapple abstract is an original from an artist I like in Mexico City, other above the second workstation is a canvas transfer of Monet's Impressionist Sunrise), leather couches, area rugs, and so on.

So yeah, I've been banished to the bedroom. I'd be more upset if not for the fact that where my pc once sat now stands a 60" HDTV

Why have you been banished? :D

Well my pc was in the living room. My girlfriend and I both wanted a more central living space. It's way less awkward entertaining guests like that. Also there just wasn't anywhere else to put that mammoth TV.

Need to get a bigger place then huh... I am in the same boat with my Fiancee, lucky for me my pc stays in the living room.

so, i have that exact same tv stand...i thought it was only supposed to handle up to a 46 inch tv or something? but if it works, then ya cant complain :D

Are you watching Tron, or is that just a commercial?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I guess i should really stop calling her my "girlfriend", we're engaged too. An yeah, defiantly could use a bigger place. We're living in a two bedroom apartment with a 7 year old running around. I certainly wouldn't mind my own office but it's just not in the cards right now. Also as you can see from all the posters and comics I get to fly my nerd flag pretty high. I made it sound like I was kicked out when that really wasn't the case. Now we can have movie nights and street fighter tournaments and stuff. :D

I think that's a weight issue. The base of the TV fits on there fine and because it's a DLP it's probably lighter than a 46" plasma or LCD even though it's 60"

Why? Is it not out yet? I uh...erum...No comment.

Thought I'd share the desk and printer cart I just finished. I might put a receiver in the space under the PC, if not, I am going to make some panels to hide the UPS and stuff under there.

The desk is constructed entirely of plywood, some conduit, a sheet of laminate, and some Harbor Freight wheels. The cart has some drawers from Sears and a file drawer underneath. I need to quickly clear the desk to unroll blueprints on, so I mounted as much as I could on the monitor arm to swing it out of the way.

That is gorgeous swimming pool. Well done. Quite possibly the best cable management I have ever seen.

That is pretty slick. I plan on building a cabinet like your printer stand soon for my garage. You did a great job of making simple plywood look clean and presentable.

description for that pic should be: "Meanwhile in USA"

Either it's the USA or it's Japan, judging from the website this person is viewing. Then again, that doesn't mean anything. I look at the BBC's website and I don't live in the UK.

Just amazing! At first sight, it looked like a new type of Anthrocart. I really thought it was a pro build. Bravo!!
