VERY nice and clean

what is that under the desk you are using for cable channel?

THis is my current ugly setup!

I will switch for a smaller desk. This kind of desk or may be this one: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30196374/ . And tomorrow I will paint my room in light gray and white! I project to buy a bookshelf ( http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20116274/#/70116276 ) and some wall shelves ( http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S19856861/ ). But i don't know if I take all my furnitures in white or black....

Made so many changes since the last time i posted up if i ever did LOL. New monitors as the 2 i had weren't enough and mismatched sizes made me rage. New desk because of the monitors. And i'm sure the rig is probably about the same if not it is.

Can I just ask you two what cases you each have? Thanks.

OMG I am in love with that site now.

They do have alot of really nice stuff. I was online, searching for plastic channels and all I was finding was the stuff you can get at Home Depot. That is until I found mockett.com.

Customer service is awesome.
I ordered three 2-foot sections, they sent me two 3-foot sections. I called them to let them know of their error and they said to keep the ones I had and they'll send the correct ones. A couple days later I had the right ones. :D

Ok, so I often look through these threads...the desks and set-ups here are amazing.

So you all inspired me to build a desk.

It was made for less than $300 in parts from HomeDepot, and has an acrylic top with monitors embedded in the desktop. I also built an infinity mirror (complete with microcontroller control of the blue LEDs around it)-

Currently the desk only has 5 monitors (three on the top, two embedded in the desktop)- but this will soon be 6 up top and two in the desk for a total of 8 (maybe more if I figure out a good way to attach).

You can see one of my case mods in the SFF thread here (a mod also inspired by HardOCP!)

So here are some crappy phone pics:

Now before you yell at me for cable management, that is in the plans- I've just been busy getting ready for Defcon- so when I'm finished you shouldn't see any cables at all.

For the clear acrylic top I had to get one of the Logitech "darkfield' mice so that I didn't have to use a mousepad. (Other suggestions for mice that can work on a clear surface?)

All the legs are hollow and allow for cables as wide as a VGA.

The desk height is much higher than a standard desk (can use as a standing or sitting desk, with an architect's chair)- I often use a large Yoga ball as a chair, or simply stand.

Thanks for inspiring me guys (and gals)!

I figured for less than a big Ikea desk I could build my own, so I did. Horray for 2x4s.

very impressive.

nice work

I thought is was going to be cheaply built. The steel that it's made out of is 1/4" thick. Everything is welded and it's powdercoated. I wasn't looking at spending $300+ on a triple mount.

That looks as if it's putting a very large amount of stress on a very small part of the desk. Probably not a good idea if your desk is made from chipboard.

if you have a cheap pessboard desk, just get a piece of 1x3 or 1x4 to put under the clamps

they do have a version with a base for a little more

if they don't, tyke supplky does and they are identical

if only they made a mount for 30s - would 30s fit this mount even tho its out of spec

I was thinking of getting a 4" x 4" peice of wood to put between the clamp screws and the desk, just for a little peice of mind.

Yeah...i'm thinking of removing the plastic shell of the 30s so that they aren't so wide and the picture is more like one large rectangular monitor

such a fantastic find!

Maybe get this one: http://shop.easymountlcd.com/Deluxe...-Desktop-Clamp-up-to-28-002-0019-002-0019.htm

It's for 28" displays but 30's might fit. I would have a look on google to see if anybody tried it. The main thing to look out for is the weight of each display and what type of desk you have.

I've got this exact stand but with the large desktop base instead of the clamp. I used it in a 20/30/20 plp setup. It barely supports the weight of all three monitors. The 20s on the sides do not angle in enough for my taste either. I don't feel you could use this for 3 30s. Even 3 27s would be pushing it unless they are in portrait.

I've currently got 3 U2711's on the easymountlcd deluxe triple up to 28' desk clamp mount, using the TV adapters that BViper shows in http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1664319 and the monitor clamps are about half off the end of the crossbars. This is also with the edges of the monitors overlapping slightly to get more angle.

Unless you have 4:3 ratio 30' monitors or plan to have them in portrait mode, I would very much doubt that you'd manage triple 30's on this mount.

I haven't found any mounts that support three 30" displays at that price. There are some but they cost $300+:
Maybe you can wall mount the displays.

the clamp wont support it, I couldnt get mine to go over a 2x4(the 3.5" side) and the 3/4" pressboard that is my desktop

it will do 2 I'm sure, 3....doubt it

I measured it and it will fit. The clamp part is adjustable for different thicknesses of desks.
The peice of wood I'll use will only be 3/4 to 1 inch thick.

that's def an option. my 3x30inch project will have to go on hold though as i'm heading back to school

thats what I'm doing with my PLP setup only because my desk is too shallow so I wanted them as far back as possible. The best way to do that is wall mount them. All 3 mounts(one flush and 2 articulating) only cost like $40. Hoping to get them today then start playing with getting them mounted.
edit: mounts arrived, will get started later.

...I normally have M-Audio AV40s as well but they are being used on my racing sim rig right now until I get speakers for it.

This looks great. Making me have serious considerations against the pole mount some other PLP setups have.

Have you noticed any issues with heat with the 30" being that close to the wall?

I've only run it for a day but I did run them all day and night today with no noticeable issues. Technically none of the vents are covered and there is still plenty of aitflow so I dont think there will be a problem.
