Sandman's desks/setups were always clean, sleek, modern, and minimalistic...im uber jealous

That is a ton of movies. A big investment for sure, how many you have? and where do you have them ripped? You can't possibly hop up there every time you want to watch one.

Got my 24" Samsung last week :)

*snip*

PS - no, the case isn't open all the time and the CPU fan is blowing to the rear

I want to have that case's babies :( It's sad that they don't even have it on their site any more. I still think that is the single nicest looking rackmount case on the market. I should have bought it when they were still making them.

I'd love to remind everyone this is a workstation thread...start a "Post your DVD Collection" or something.

My setup at college right now:
ComputerDesk.jpg

ComputerOpenFront.jpg

ComputerInsideRear.jpg

ComputerInsideFront.jpg

ComputerInsideSide.jpg

Specs:
-Dual Core AMD Opteron 1218 (2.6Ghz)
-Thermalright Ultima-90I w/ 92mm Delta EFB0912L Triple Bladed Fan
-Tyan Tomcat n3400B (S2925A2NRF)
-2x Kingston 1GB DDR2-800
-EVGA nVidia 8600GT 256MB PCI-E x16
-Seagate Barracuda 320GB SATAII HD
-PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610W EPS12v PSU
-Chenbro SR10568 Granite Chassis
-Lite-On DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
-Logitech Classic 200 Keyboard
-Razer Diamondback 3G
-92mm Sunon KD1209PTB2 Intake Fan
-120mm Delta AFB1212SH Exhaust Fan

I like to think it runs cool, idles at 27-30C, loads at 39-41C.
The computer itself is pretty loud though, I downvolted the 120mm exhaust fan to 5v, but it's a delta, so its always gonna be heard.
I tried tidying up the cables as much as I can, but it's a non-modular PSU, and the case doesn't have a removable mobo tray. So basically, all the unused cables were zip tied, and bundled up into the empty 5.25in bays. The only panels that can come off are one side panel, and the front bezel, everything else is riveted on. It also happens to be the same case that Alienware used for their MJ desktop workstation series.

And for anyone who cares, a closeup of the dvds on my top shelf are:
MBDvds.jpg

From this you might be be able to tell I'm a huge MythBusters fan. I have the pilots dvd, 6 of the specials on dvd and seasons 1, 2, 3, and 4. I also have seasons 5 and ongoing 6 on my computer, I'm just waiting for Discovery to release the official box sets, then I'll probably buy them for continuity.

You're gonna get some "You got rid of a Jerker desk for that?!?!?!?" responses to your new setup. :p

I didn't have anything to do w/ the dvd pictures posted by others. Simply posted my room pictures, but thanks for the support! :)

Oh, and I believe I have about 450 or so, sold about 50 of them and am looking to sell the entire top row/column of my dvds.

:)

Yeah, after I stopped lusting after the rack setup, I thought the same thing. Why?

Well there is 1 setup I never posted which lasted only a few months... and that was using this desk. I literally just made this change, so that desk is still in my room with crap all over it. So basically, I could not study at all on that desk given its 11" depth... The idea was that I would be able to put my monitors on the shelf and be able to push my keyboard away and study... which would have worked GREAT on the old Jerker workstation... however, the new fredrick SUCKS. For a while there I was going to get my old Jerker from my mom/step-dad but then I realized my room would be much better served w/ a corner desk. I'm in a chair (w/ wheels lol) and it was a pain in the neck to burn a dvd, etc... which was fixed w/ this setup but was really just icing on the cake as I didnt realize it would work out that way until after it was all said and done. I got this desk from a dude on craigslist for $55 and since it goes for $250+ at officedepot.com, I said hell yeah I'll take it. Plus I can add components to this desk like a longer L piece, etc.

So all in all, this desk works a lot better... even though its about the same as the old jerker... still, I can push the keyboard away between the monitors and study.

I noticed that "I'm in a chair..." comment. Wheelchair? If so, me too. :D

Setup in 2007:

New Setup in 2008:

I moved in December and I finally have my desktop for gaming instead of the Gateway laptop I was using, and I have an actual desk.
Even though the desk is not the greatest, I'm not complaining cos it was free, and it works until I get a nicer desk.

Boyfriend's Setup:

Currently he is working on his watercooled machine in a modded Lian Li case, with a red theme. He also needs a new desk! :D

where did u get that light that bends? is it fluorescent?

Its an Ikea lamp... should be able to buy it online.. I personally like it but its a tiny bit cheaply made... I've had it for years though and its held up great.

http://tinyurl.com/2lufof

I spoke too soon... it is in store only, sorry. and yes it is fluorescent... i didnt want halogen because they get way too hot.

Man, I always wonder if anyone else is.. I know i'm not the only one. I'm in atlanta too btw. (not sure which place you're in from your profile) It's funny cause all my pictures have no chair lol.

*Click thumbnail to few full-size!*
So I went downstairs and jacked my mom's camera for a few minutes to do this while she was at work, it's a really old beat up hand-me-down (from my Sister who takes shit care of electronics... Olympus thing... and I suck at photography.)

Profile shot of the desk with the chair in place and such.

Another profile shot this time with the chair out of the way to see the wiring I just spend 1/2 hour figuring out, the only ones you see are keyboard (G15) and mouse (MX518) wires.

Here's the fridge and my shelf. My ATH-A900's at top, beneath that is charing for DS-Lite and PA2V2 and some other random crap like a Ninja book and a Pokémon strategy guide for DS. Beneath that is my MacBook with it's sleeve being charged, topped by a weighted companion cube plushie that was a gift from my GF for birthday/christmas, and an anime character (Keroro Gunsou) from a show we watch (of the same name as the character). Then comes the games and software and pens and stuff, then finally the printer C3180 (free with my MacBook).

This is the corner where all the wires ended up. I have a stupid 45* wall at this corner of the room... and nothing else fit so the desk went here... you can see some of the less tight cables hanging down under my desk, I have zip ties to fix that in just a minute here.

Of course that's my bed to the right in all of those pictures. Beauty-Rest Full, just got a nice new 500-thread count bed set.

@optional87

man now I want my own personal fridge in my room haha.. getting a beer will be so much easier!

I'm actually only 20 so it's full of vitamin water and mt. dew... but umm at college it's a little different... *cough*

Anyway, this was my sister's fridge through college and when I got it, oh my GOD, threw everything I knew how to clean with at this thing and it *still* smells like she left un-drank shots in here for the duration of it's ownership, she takes shit care of everything.

But yeah, it is nice to have :D

I heartily endorse the personal mini-fridge. Mine is fully stocked with Red Stripe, Bud Ice, Pepsi and Mountain Dew. :D
