Can someone show me exactly how to get fubar200 to look like this? I've looked around the mentioned forums and cannot find this theme at all.

www.hydrogenaudio.org is pretty much the home of anything foobar2k related, including this huge thread stretching back to 2005 with people's configs:

http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=30988

I'd suggest starting around page 75 and looking for info, tips, tricks, etc. I have seen that specific layout above before, many times in fact, but never bothered with it. I just use WinAMP as a docked toolbar at the bottom of my screen, and that's all I need.

But scrolling through that long thread gives me some ideas. Some of those configs with foobar2k totally rock, they really do. You could always PM the person that posted that desktop pic here as well, I'm sure he or she would be more than willing to give you some pointers, possibly directly to the specific thread(s) at HydrogenAudio about that config.

Hope this helps...

I have not even started season 3 yet. I watched all of season one in 2 days, and I am almost done with season two. I should start season 3 by the weekend :)

I though it was a Mac!

Just shows you what can be done with some time and a good skining program!

My favorite customization thus far:
*snip*

Is it just me or do the fonts there look really messed up? I'm at 1600x1200 right now, crystal clear everything but for some reason in that image, the full size image from DA, the fonts just look horrible and quite blurry. Weird...

The ever-changing Desktop of PLmatt91... :D

Hahaha. Yeah, the font is kind of messed up while being bold. But that font is only able to be viewed through standard font format, not cleartype... I'm looking around for other fonts because this one isn't working so great for me :p

Just finished an interface customization spree, here are the results:

So we have Windows XP here with a few apps and toolbars running:
- Moved my desktop icons into Rocket dock.
- Installed VisualToolTip to get the Vista style pop-up taskbar previews.
- Installed the Royal Nior theme (there are other themes out there, but every other one I've tried has at least something wrong with it)
- Added games and apps menus to the taskbar using FreeLaunchBar, with only the shortcuts to the actually programs themselves (I have shortcuts to everything in there, I hardly ever use the start menu anymore, unless I'm looking for an uninstaller for something)
- Turned off the shellstyle in explorer and turned the Status Bar on.
- Installed YZ Toolbar to get rid of the flag in upper-right corner of Explorer windows.
- Installed QT Breadcrumbs Address bar, which adds a fully functional Vista breadcrumb bar to Explorer.
- Turned off the forward, back, up a level, etc buttons because the breadcrumb bar makes them redundant (I don't know why the forward and back buttonseven included with Vista, if I could turn them off I would)
- Installed QT TabBar to add folder tab functionality and folder-contents previews to Explorer.
- Installed QT Tab Standard Buttons to get the fully functional Vista search box (narrows down items in the folder), as well as extra function buttons for QT TabBar (arrow next to the search box is hiding them).

That looks really nice, and very very functional! I wonder, though: with all those programs running, have you experienced any slowdown in your day-to-day use? It just seems to me that Explorer might get a bit sluggish when it has to integrate so many different programs.

EDIT: also, what icon set are you using, and what program did you use to change them?

I am always amazed at people running big resource draining clocks (ok not many resources but even so) on some kind of sidebar/dock and still having the clock sitting there on the Tray... hehehe I'll never not get a laugh from that I swear. :D

The Short Answer:
I haven't noticed much of any slowdown since installing these mods; strangely enough, explorer actually feels a little snappier since disabling the common-tasks pane (Tools > Folder Options > Use Windows Classic Folders).
And as for what Icon pack I'm using...well, I'm using icons from numerous Vista-themed packs, as well as many individual icons that aren't part of a pack at all. I can zip up my icons folder and upload it to rapidshare if you like.
I'm using Icon Tweaker combined with a brico-pack to change my icons, although Icon Tweaker alone is usually enough for most people. The Brico-pack I'm using changes relatively minor things (icons in the system tray, for example).

The Long Answer:
Since I'm using XP's built-in skinning engine, and not some third party software (like windows blinds), the theme is no more resource hungry than the default XP theme. Rocket Dock, Visual Tooltip, Free Launch Bar, and Yz Toolbar are all also very light on resources as evidenced by the task manager's report of 0% CPU usage; I think all of my mods amount to a 20mb increase in RAM usage...and that's it.

The toolbars are, well, toolbars; by their very nature they aren't all that resource intensive. True, they are coded in .net, but they are still very light apps. The search box only narrows down the file and folder in the current view based on what you type in (you type "computer" and only items containing that word remain shown), so it's practically instant. The tab bar is equally fast, and explorer remains fast and responsive even with 20+ tabs open. Expanding a folder from the breadcrumb bar is as fast as opening a folder the usual way, the same goes for expanding sub-folder in context menus (third screenshot). Hover-over image and text file previews are quite a bit faster than I expected them to be; I rolled my cursor down a list of image files and the previews pictures appeared instantly next to my cursor, nice.

All in all, things feel about as fast as ever. My system is reasonably beefy (Athlon 64, 2GB of RAM, 7900GT), but I wouldn't expect these mods to cause any sort of performance hit even on slower computers with less RAM.

Now how are you gonna see that clock while surfing the web without minimizing your window?

I just installed that yesterday morning. Even though I am doing it as well, I also get a laugh. Now Almost everytime I sit down at my PC. I'll probably uninstall the whole sidebar, its taking up too much real estate. ;)

Well havent posted her in awhile

so i decided that i would, just got a new car, 1993 Mitsu 3000GT, so i am in love with others cars to say the least.

and it is 3 screens so big image here ;)

Why 7.3MB though? It's only a screenshot, might as well save it in a lower format..

BTW, nice Mac emulation.
