my latest. on a nice fresh install of win XP :)

stats = coolmon
theme = Royal Inspirat
winamp = Modern skin w/ blues color theme in minimized mode
bar at top = object dock with transparent background
wallpaper = 5 minute photoshop job (available here http://slackerserver.com/uploaded/athlon64.jpg)

When my theme gets old, I just change it. As a matter of fact, now that I have used nice stylized themes, I find the old "playskool" theme boring and ugly. I will NEVER go back to the default windows xp theme.

Yes you will. Everybody defaults to default eventually.
Listen, don't come to a screenshot, theme-based thread and critisize, alrighty? I will say that I changed my theme back to normal.....after I got a real Mac and got rid of my Mac theme on Windows XP... Seriously, though, don't come here and critisize....it's about posting your desktop, which about 90 percent of us have themed....who knows, maybe you're right....but come back in a few years to check, because we'll all have the default "Vista" theme....you'll be right in the sense that we are using a "default" theme.....the only difference, though, is that it won't look like shit... ;) Think about it...

^^Yes, what lesman said....Here's my last one for a while. I hadn't planned on switching things up again, but a new VS was put out. Using--
VS: area04 by heylove (available on deviantart)
Wallpaper: "Pier"--one of the default OSX Tiger wallpapers--Google is your friend...
Icons: same mix a sbefore--they work well w/ this setup
Other: still using Avedesk, OD+ & LClock

Where did you get that awsome background image?

pc_desktop_050930.jpg

Using StyleXP for teh theme (Marina Compact) with the IconPackager-package (Macro-GANT3). And some wallpaper found at customize.org.

Bored in class right now, here's a screen of my graphics watered-down laptop. The wallpaper is a fractal I made.

See, I already changed my wallpaper - again... :D Oh well... I'll post later again when I change theme and icons... No need to spam this thread :D

Just fixed my desktop up. I'm gonna have this until my trial for Aston expires.
Just might buy the full version....

if you want to make your own similar wallpaper just start up photoshop
1) fill the canvas with any color you want
2) choose white and the pencil tool and just go crazy with it, cover alot of the black with white crazy lines from the pencil tool
3) goto filter, blur, radial blur. choose the following settings- amout 100%, mode: zoom, quality: best. then hit ok
4) thats about it, you can do some blending options by duplicating the layer and right clicking the new later and hitting blending options

Karamba and Super Karamba are Widget like programs for Linux. Search for it, and then if you go here kde-look.org you can find the many many many widgets that will show you oodles and oodles of stats for your Comp.

that would be samurize, my fav system stats app in windows. if you want temps you are going to need motherboard monitor installed too

as abudhu said there are similar type apps for loonix, although i much prefere gkrellm to karamba for system stats on a nix box.

Thanks :D Any special skin your using with it?

yah it's one i made. i like minimal, but there is much much more you can do with samurize. you can grab a rar here with a few different colour schemes in, that one is the 'graybg' one

Now that I love lesman. If I can find a windows skin that works like that for my browser window and taskbar (and who knows what that alpha transparency may also work with), I'd be happy.

ok lesman, reveal your secrets!! :)
Bwa, ha ha, I shall not! J/k...sadly, folks, no real secrets! It's actually Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.2....it's a Shapeshifter theme called "Ruler Aero", and a random icon pack! OS X has support for alpha blending/tranparencies, so it was only a matter of time before someone would mock the vista look! I have the best of both worlds!
abudhu said:
@ Lesman: Thats such a Snap to the Vista GUI. Haha.
It sure is....yikes....I was happy I found it!

:D
The upcoming WindowBlinds 5 will fully support alpha blending/transparencies, so when that is fully releaased, expect a whole crapload of vista-like mockups!

Secrets told.... :D

wow i would never have guessed...

i guess mac emulation has gotten so good that its hard to tell the difference in screen shots. whoa!

There are several key differences that make it a dead giveaway that it's a real Mac and not just some skin. For example, the skins for Windows do not add menu bars for all applications. The menu bar in lesman's screen shot clearly shows that the current application is Grab, which is also the right-most icon in the Dock (not counting the trash). With Windows skins, it usually it just says "Finder" regardless of what application you're in, I think.

Besides, it's too damned perfect to just be a Mac skin.

lesman
How did you apply that Mac skin? It looks neat and I see there are different color variations to it. I tried to download it last night but Finder asks me what program I want to use with it. And are there other skins out there?
