The moment devs said "PC version will be superior" , I knew EXACTLY we would be getting over-bloomed/HDR Xbox360 graphics with low res textures. A true console port, thrown to PC crowd for the old time sake. And that the old Crysis would still be The benchmark.

I hope that anyone who buys this enjoys most of his Crysis 2 time in EA support forum.

didn't check but it was definitely 60+ on hardcore graphics at 1920x1200, game play feels like shit though, crappy console port.

ETA 1 hour for download

but i just had to say something to the peps that really don't know jack about the difference from d3d9 vs d3d10 guess what its called pixel Shader Model 4. and that's the only high point of directx10+ .

rest are all low points and the people that bash d3d9 are probity the same people that don't know what dxdiag.exe cus if they did they spray chunks on their keyboard from the difference from directx 9 vs 10+

and if this thing needs about as much power as crysis warhead then its all good to go with what im using seeing as i can hold all most a solid 60fps in that game with medium high settings.

and im not playing online with lower then 60 fps if possible 75 or 85fps + sink
all other considerations are secondary.

all you people that can't hold 60 fps if i can on my junk im so going to laff in your face after :D
no disrespect intended

Well i was getting 35-45+ish with 1 card working. I went and installed the nvidia sli profile for crysis2 and huge difference. Went up double plus more and sometimes triple. GPU utilization is 85-92+% across all 3 cards. Places I had 30 ish fps went to 80+ other areas I'm seeing 90-110+. Games running great now. Feel smooth as silk and I had a good time with it. yes it's a console port and yes its gay they did that to us but the game fun and fuckall thats why I play games to have fun. It doesn't look to bad on HC either.

100~200 fps depend on settings,i can hold a decent fps at a decent res for a game that from what i can tell is a in your face 3d shooter for players of low skill meaning the masses

the good
its free
so you don't really have the right to complain but i will anyways ;)
i can hold 60 fps at 1280x960 res with sink .worse case ill just use 1024x768.its a in your face shooter so you don't need res for game like this.
people use to play quake one at 640x480 all day long so you know.

the bad
Motion blur everything built in to the game.
total crap and with that enabled all the rest doesn't mater cus everything looks like crap the min you move you head.
i have a CRT monitor for a resion, why do i want to feel like im on a crappy LCD when im not.
that means the game acts like its parked at 20 fps regardless of if the game is really ruining at 200 fps
min i try and move my head around im blind and feel like i want to spray chunks on my keyboard.

everything looks like its scaled at 400x300res regardless of res, Total in your face hall way shooter.
Ret on the gun is so huge you have to be blind no to see it.
auto aim yay {wtf total suck}
no in game settings for grafix of any kind really, sad

you don't get points for camping.good one.
i can see theirs going to be a lot of tactics going on in this run&gun game..not

bottom line its free so you know for the price i payed for the demo its all good, ill have some fun with it. Iv seen worse over the years but if you think im off to the store right now to go and get a copy forget that.
Good 3d shooter for players in the 10~16 year old range and ya agreed with all the rest.it smells too much of xbox 360 for my liking.

wolfdale core 4000MHz 4 gigs ram winxp pro 9800gtx

Ps halo 1 was half decent but vs farcry it was a pile of suck .
but that's all the gamers had back in the day on the first xbox so i can see were they were coming from.

Getting the Demo Now and I will see what I can do to add to this discussion as well...

Man and this download is still too slow for me at 40 megs/sec

Getting average of 60fps with 1920x1080 / Hardcore system specs

Running 4.8ghz 2600K w/ 2 6970s at stock clocks.

This is kind of pointless at the moment being DX9 only and running like crud on systems that would destroy it. I say put this thread on pause until release.

Does it look worse and perform worse than the first Crysis?

I couldn't say since I don't bother with console ports. Screenshots and Gameplay videos look moderate at best, will pass for now.

Got like an average of 70FPS on Hardcore settings, 1920x1080, graphics look quite decent, was expecting horrible performance. Lets see how this game will fare when the final version is released.

Hovering around high 45-50 fps in 1920 x 1200 at Hardcore settings on Skyline. Which is annoying, so I play at Gamer.

Looks worse than the first Crysis.

A few textures here and there are outright embarrassing, but over all this does not look worse than Crysis. Anyway, these maps arent perfect for comparison. Crysis was a whole lot of foliage and nature, whereas these maps are almost entirely hard man made surfaces. I will give you the water in Pier17 does not look as good as Crysis water, but maybe they have some DX11 water ready for us that we are currently not seeing.

I could most definitely live without the bloom. Anyway, like someone said already, maybe we should put this on stand by until release. It better release with DX11, or I am getting this game when it goes on sale on Steam.

from what i recall it was something like 37-55, avg in the low to mid 40s, rig in sig (1080p, hardcore setting)

What video card? Unfortunately those of you who insist on listing everything within a 20 foot radius in your sig make it almost impossible to pick out your actual system specs.

lmao

I honestly feel crysis looks better than this one so far, maybe once they release DX 11 option my opinion will change.

It's very obvious this IS a console port, everything is simplified for the masses including the gameplay, controls feel craptastic, doubt i'll get it for multiplayer.

I didn't enjoy the first multiplayer Crysis tbh, so me not finding this one that enthralling is no exception. I actually quite like the map in the demo though, a bit more inspired than the usual deathmatch maps out there. DX9, Console port, whatever, the game is actually still very good looking by modern standards, and really that's all that matters when you're analysing it graphically. I'll wait for the single player before passing my full judgement.

Well... considering an online shooter with 22fps avg - no trouble, certainly helps ;)

Getting about 27 FPS in both 2D & 3D Surround @ 5760x1080 in Hardcore with the 267.64 drivers and not a lot different at lower settings, there's seems to be an issue with using 3x SLI optimally.

in hardcore mode on the skyline map at 1920x1080 with only one more dude on the server I was getting 45fps avg with fraps on.

side note: is the multiplayer really buggy I was having a hard time keeping my network connection to the servers to be able to play. yet i can play online with pretty much any game. I play sc2 cs etc regularly online.

While I confess not to know much about coding, is it possible that this demo is a port but the actual game is not. Everything I have read leads me to believe that the actual PC version is NOT a port because it was written for S3D also. Can this just be the bone that was thrown because of all the complaints of not having a pc demo but they are saving the shock and awe for the release version?

Just askin'

I get about 45 ~ 55 with fraps on, same settings - 6950 (6970 mod).

3D was desgined into the game to work on all platforms.

yeah, sorry. though it does save me the trouble of listing stuff out in case i need help troubleshooting my pc :p; and let's not exaggerate, it's more like 15 feet ;).

btw, forgot to check when i played, but is the demo multi-gpu compatible (in my case xfire)? i know i read someone mention using the crysis 2 sli profile that worked. what about amd? just curious. didn't feel like bothering to load up the game to check.

1920x1080 no benchmark ran but i played the demo on hardcore with AA forced in the CCC to 4xAA and it ran beautifully. No slowdown ever.

I don't think you understand sarcasm ;)

Lol dx9 only. Fuck this console port shit.

You were missing the wink, sarcasm in written form is hard to read without it, unless you know the person.:p

I haven't benched this game yet, but it seemed playable on hardcore(core 2 duo and 5850@1680x1050), also isn't gamer the lowest setting?

I'm getting awesome performance too. Not sure whats up with everyone else..

Yes, CF is not working correctly. Even though Afterburner said both cards were working, I got the same frame rates as having CF turned on.

I get about 45 ~ 55 with fraps on, same settings - 6950 (6970 mod).

I get similar average frames with PC in sig, hardcore settings. Gameplay is a little laggy though, even at lower graphics settings. Lowering graphics settings doesn't seem to improve frames much.

Heatless I know your a forum regular over at Evga as well as here but obvious question is...did you install either Evga's latest SLI profile patch or nvidia's directly? I used the nvidia one since it doesn't require an uninstall before you do a driver upgrade and its small as hell and only added the one profile I needed for crysis 2. Honestly I'm seeing incredible tri sli scaling since I added that profile. I changed nothing and did not force any alternate sli rendering either. Just using the default nvidia sli renderer. Steady 80-92%+ scaling across all 3 cards and the performance is stellar after adding the profile, seriously. I was really quite suprised and happy to see sli working as it should.

Anyone who wants sli working in crysis 2 needs to install this. http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia-multigpu-SLI-profile-update-v7-driver.html
As an alternate you can always go get evga's sli enhancement patch as well. Nvidia's is just smaller and a quicker install.

I will give it a shot. At 5760x1440 it ran OK but not as smooth as I would have liked. At 8050x1600 it was a slide show.
