Post Your College Setups!!!

Here is my old setup when I lived in a garage. Second picture is of my setup while I am on a 6 month co-op in my corporate apartment. As you can see i pretty much upgraded everything as my income increased.

Even as freshman we got suites, except we shared bed rooms and had no kitchen

I especially like the first pic., very cozy.

You guys have it easy. We only get two outlets by our desks and can only hook up one power-extending device to each outlet. That leaves me with about 8 outlets to work from my UPS and another 5 from a powerstrip. Each powerstrip that is daisy-chained = $50 fine. Luckily there is another 2 outlets under my bed, so I power my iPod and laptop as well as the printer from there. Stupid fire code.

When everything else is paid for by student loans and scholarships, you can afford to blow your paycheck on toys.

or you can just work full time during school then take time off for co-ops... ohhh but then you have to go to college for 5.5 years. But I will take college any day over having a real job. I am counting down the days (75) untill I get to go back to calpoly

here's this years setup (messy.. studying for calc common) i'm still awaiting my new klipsche ultra 2.0 speakers

Sell a few of these systems and get a nice LCD monitor, keyboard, and set of speakers. It will improve your computing experience much more than having 3 or 4 spare boxes that give you nothing more than your nice A64 box.

Tru. I read about them in MaximumPC a couple years ago. Pretty sure they got the highest rating possible from them, and they were only 50 bucks. Best investment I've ever made in computer hardware. :D

I have no need for speakers or a new display. I use all the computers almost every day except the 2000+ and 1200 thunderbird, and they are both folding. The others record TV shows, run game servers, or store my media. Don't really need a keyboard either, my Zboard is holding up fine.

I could see why you recommend I sell some stuff though. But the only thing I would want would be one of those 30" apple displays, and selling two old athlon boxs wont allow for that display and a card that can make use of it.

I got the same RCA alarm clock. Its nice, but the LED's are bright as balls. i can make shadows puppets on the damn wall at nightl.

Hey infiniti029 how is that case working. I think im going to get that for my first build. But im a little worried as to if it has good enough cooling for high end parts.

Wowwww, you get a corner room!! You are by far the neatest & cleanest student so far.

thanks for the compliment. the scarry part is that my room always looks like that. i can't stand living in a messy environment. i have 3 other room mates and none of them ever take the time to make their beds or anything. I can't stand coming back from a long day of classes and seeing a messy area, i just like clean :)

I am the same way.

I just think it just does not look good to have people our even myself enter my room and have it look like crap.

Always nice to stay simple, clean, and organized ;)

Nice for me to look at too :p

*starts cleaning his room.....*

I clean everything in my room except making the bed. Making the bed is just as uselss as folding your clothes in a drawer. what's the pt. when you have to sleep hours later, you have to untangle the sheets on your bed anyway? It's impractical.

lithium, gonna get a computer case any time soon? or just use it like that :p
